 Year 02:

As I lay beneath a tree that barely covered me in its shadow, my mind dwelled on the past months. I may be wrong, but I think it has been a year or more since I defeated Greeny.

After my victory over him, peace has reigned in my life. Most importantly, I learned a lot about the kid. Her name is Elara and she is an orphan from Estrella, that human town nearby. She doesn't have many friends aside from me, which is odd since she is absurdly cheerful and energetic.

How did I learn all this? Well, I don't know why, but at a point she started talking a lot to me, some days she would just talk for hours. At the beginning, I didn't understand a thing, but a dragon's life can be lonely so I didn't mind her talking so much.

Anyway, one day I started understanding her words, and little by little I started to get more and more of her vocabulary. I know, right? This dragon mind of mine which can pick up a language without much context is the envy of any linguist. Or maybe it is because I have a human-like mind to begin with?

Whatever, let's start from the beginning. What happened after I defeated Fake Godzilla? Well, Elara tried to tame me, and this time I didn't resist her magic one bit. So, am I her pet right now? Not really, she failed. I don't know why, maybe she is too young, or her magic power isn't enough.

After that, she left dissapointed and I ate Greeny. What, was that too heartless? Well, sorry for being hungry and all wounded.

Something curious is that while eating his meat I accidentally ate a crystal or something like that he had inside him. I thought I was gonna die or something, but surprisingly enough it was really tasty, like this-is-the-most-delicious-thing-I-ever-ate kind of tasty. Oh, and my mana pool increased instantly, but who cares? The important thing is it was exquisite.

I think I look like an adult dragon now, a handsome one for sure. You better hide your daughters, dragons of the world! No, I am probably closer to a teenager. Although I am way closer to my parents' size now, they were still bigger than me, so I guess I still have some growing up to do.

Anyway, in the following days after defeating Greeny I thought about going back deeper into the forest to reign like a king over my people! I mean, over my meals. But I was worried about Elara so I stood around, and just as expected she kept coming into the forest to look for me, so I had no option but to stay around. Before I knew it, the cave near the town became my new nest and the clearing where we met the first time became our meeting spot.

In these meetings, she talks about a lot of silly things, about how she hates Vin, a kid from the orphanage; about how Lady Lizzy doesn't pay attention to her and always takes Vin's side; about how she is bored most of the time; about how she wants to be a soldier, and so on. And yes, a soldier, I don't get why but that's what she wants.

My days with her went like that, and before I knew it our interactions became our routine. Sometimes she comes to the clearing, in the morning or afternoon, and tries to tame me, fails with or without my interference, and then just sits down and talks and talks. She has even been bold enough to pet me and play with my tail or wings these last months.

And that takes us to the present. What? Where is she right now? She is napping while using a gorgeous dragon as her pillow. Seriously, what kind of life did you lead to feel so safe around a dangerous dragon like me?

By the way, once I discovered she was an orphan, I stopped taking her meat offerings. However, I do let her try to tame me once a day.

As I was lost in my mind she woke up, rubbed her eyes, looked at me, and then smiled lazily. That's what I call a lazy cute smile.
