Darkness. The world was nothing but darkness, and a heart was beating amidst that darkness. His soul wasn't completely reborn, some marks remained, so his mind couldn't begin completely anew.

 Day 01:

I felt as if I was waking up from a long slumber. In the beginning, everything was dark and cold as if I was lying on cold stones, but as the seconds went by I felt warm wash over me, as if the cozy sunshine was bathing my body and embracing me with its arms.

When I opened my eyes, two fearsome red creatures were looking down at me. For a moment, I felt like panicking, but instinctively I knew they weren't a danger to me.

My parents. I don't know how, but I knew this pair of terrifying fire-breathing beasts were my parents. However, as I was starting to calm down, I felt something pushing me away from them, and the next thing I knew, I was falling off the precipice.

I instinctively moved my wings and clumsily managed to land atop a tree. Only to quickly leap off the tree onto the ground and look up to where the two giant dragons were. They gazed down at me for a while, but then they started flapping their wings.

I innocently thought they were going to follow me, but they just flew away in different directions. Just like that, they left their dragon child behind.

For dragons, you sure are cold.

 Day 02:

As rain fell like bullets I was resting beneath a big tree. With nothing but my mind to keep me company, I reflected on some ghost thoughts wandering my mind.

From the moment I opened my eyes the day before, I knew something was off with me. To start with, I was pretty sure I wasn't a day-old dragon, so why didn't I realize I was me until yesterday? It is as if my consciousness just awakened.

What made this more clear was something that happened this morning. I felt thirsty so I looked for water when I came across a nearby river that crosses the forest. I went there for water, but the river was so calm I found a mirror instead. When I approached it, I saw myself for the first time. There was a small red dragon with yellow and ferocious eyes looking back at me.

It was strange, I knew I was a dragon and that I would look similar to my parents, but something felt off when I first saw my reflection; like that was me and wasn't me at the same time. I can't put my finger on... Finger?

Before my mind could take me deeper into that train of thought a raindrop hit the water mirror and distorted my reflection, only for more to follow it destroying the image completely.

Yeah, that feels more like it.

 Day 07:

I've been living in this forest for a week. I am doing fine now but survival wasn't easy at first.

On my first day, I fought with a terrifying tiger-like beast that almost killed me, it bit my neck and all. But I managed to defeat it, and somehow my injuries healed on their own after I ate its meat. I guess that means dragons can regenerate lost flesh with just a meal.

Since then I've been surviving by eating easy prey like boars and deer, or at least that's what they look like.

Anyway, what astonishes me the most is how big I've gotten. If I was the size of a middle-sized dog when I woke up for the first time, then I am tiger-sized now. Isn't that just ridiculous? But well, ridiculous or not, living like this isn't bad at all.
