Third Person's POV:
Engfa leaned back in her chair, her desk scattered with college brochures, notebooks, and her laptop. The past week had been a whirlwind of preparation—meetings with advisors, finalising enrollment, and trying to map out a schedule that wouldn't overwhelm her. Yet, amidst all the chaos, there was one thought she couldn't shake: Charlotte.
She glanced at the small photo frame on her desk, a candid picture of Charlotte laughing, her head thrown back, her joy palpable. The sight tugged at Engfa's heart, reminding her of the promise she had made—to make Charlotte her wife.
Her phone buzzed on the table. She picked it up to see a message from Nessa.
Nudee: Dinner at my place tonight. Don't say no.
With a sigh and a small smile, Engfa grabbed her keys and headed out.
At Nessa's house, the air was filled with the comforting aroma of homemade pasta. Nessa greeted her with a wide grin, pulling her into a quick hug. "Finally! I thought college prep swallowed you whole."
Engfa laughed softly, dropping onto the couch as Nessa handed her a plate of food. "It almost did. I've been so swamped I barely know what day it is."
Nessa plopped down beside her, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "But you're here now, so spill. What's been going on? And don't just say college."
Engfa hesitated for a moment, then set her plate down. She leaned back, exhaling deeply. "I've been thinking about Charlotte," she began, her voice soft. "I want to marry her. Before college starts."
Nessa froze, her fork halfway to her mouth. "Wait, what? You're serious?" Her voice was a mix of excitement and disbelief.
Engfa nodded, her expression thoughtful but resolute. "I don't want to wait. I know college is going to be demanding, and I don't want Charlotte to feel like she's not my priority. She's everything to me, Dee. I want to have something that binds us, something that reminds her—and me—that no matter what happens, we belong to each other."
Nessa's eyes glistened, and she set her plate aside, leaning forward to grab Engfa's hands. "P'Fa, that's... that's beautiful. She's going to be over the moon. Have you told her yet?"
"Yes," Engfa admitted, a faint blush creeping up her cheeks. "But I wanted to figure things out first. I want it to be small and intimate. Just her dad, my mom, and a few close friends."
Nessa squealed, pulling her hands away to clap excitedly. "Oh my god, we're planning a wedding! You're actually getting married! This is going to be so perfect. Don't even think about doing this without me—I'm your maid of honour, right?"
Engfa laughed, her chest warming at Nessa's enthusiasm. "Of course you are. Who else would I trust with this?"
"Damn right," Nessa said, grabbing her phone. "We've got so much to do—finding a venue, a dress for Charlotte, flowers—oh, this is going to be amazing!"
Engfa watched her friend with a soft smile, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Thanks, Nudee. I don't know what I'd do without you."
Nessa paused, her expression softening as she looked at Engfa. "Hey, you're family. And so is Charlotte now. We're all going to make this the happiest day of her life."
Engfa nodded, her emotions bubbling to the surface. As they started brainstorming ideas, her mind drifted to Charlotte's smile and the way she would light up when she heard the news. The thought filled her with both excitement and a deep, aching love. She couldn't wait to make Charlotte her wife.
