And I'll burn this lonely house down
if you run with me
Stay With You by Goo Goo Dolls
BACK AT HOME
Maybe if Megan asked 'How's the date?, she could just smile and said it was one of the greatest night of her life.
She wondered.
Maybe Megan would be happy for her and leave it at that.
She hoped.
Maybe if she kid herself long enough, she could wrap up last night's event as an overactive figment of her imagination.
That's all. No big deal.
After all, if lunacy had a form, she had taken over it.
Why couldn't she had gone on a normal date with a gorgeous, sweet guy with a killer smile instead of turning the whole episode into a life changing experience?
Aly grinded her heels deep into the dirt in frustration; tiny pebbles loosen from the ground and rolled down the slope where she sat. Her eyes watched their movement without much thought. At least it gave her mind the much needed rest it craved before returning to her psychosis analysis.
Her eyes stung. She hadn't slept. All she had done was sit staring at the back of her house for hours and with streaks of orange light announcing another day is about to begin, she had to concede last night happened.
The cold wind scrapped against her cheeks and she pressed her head into her curled up knees for warmth. The moment she took her eyes off the rolling pebbles, her mind snapped back as fast as a whip and once again she was on a rollercoaster ride; whisking up and down and round and round, down and up and round and round. Her thoughts never settling on a specific point; it was as if she knew if she did, it would hurt too much or perhaps lapse into a mode of self-pity. She hugged herself tighter together letting the pieces inside her fall as freely as the tears rolled down her cheeks.
She wanted everything to be as it should as it was in the house she had created - not a single thing out of place. The manicured back lawn done by the same hands every week since the house was built. The potted plants that lined the fence stood in a perfectly straight row and the white garden swing that nobody ever sat on. If she sat at this spot two weeks ago, it would reflect the same exact scene. And if she came back here two weeks from now, again she felt sure nothing in the yard would ever change.
Two weeks ago, Zac was out of her life. Today, he is. And that change was something bigger than she had ever anticipated. How casual she had been with the past relationships in her life. How simply she has discarded other boys' feelings when she had lost interest and found them miserably boring. It was only logical for her to move on to the next. She was a great choice for a girlfriend!
Then what does he sees in her?
She glanced at her watch. 6.10 am. Megan would be awake soon.
She didn't think she could keep her conflicted emotions off her face and she's not sure she was in a position to tell Megan about Zac's secret double life. Yeah, Meg, you were right about Zac. There's something not quite so right about Mr Perfect. He's an angel with issues! But Aly had a feeling that Mr Bob's in on Zac's secret judging from the way it acted all kooky around him.
Up till yesterday, Aly never gave a thought about the other world.
I don't believe in miracles...
I don't believe in angels ...
I don't believe in capital HIM.
When do dead parents ever come back!
No, she didn't believe in miracles.
