The night was heavy with the scent of rain, the air thick and cold as it seeped into the bones of Yokohama. Chuuya Nakahara stood at the edge of the Port Mafia's headquarters, his gloved hands clenched into fists as he stared out at the dim cityscape below. The orange of his hair caught in the faint glow of the streetlights, but his eyes were clouded with frustration. His mind spun, trying to bury the anger that burned in his chest - anger at himself, at the world, at everything that had come crushing down.

He was tired.

"You're restless tonight," came a calm voice behind him, startling Chuuya from his thoughts.

He didn't need to turn around to know it was Odasaku. There was no mistaking that soft, steady tone - one that never matched the violence of the world they lived in. Chuuya exhaled, shoulders tense as he continued to face the city.

"What's it to you?" he muttered, his voice edged with irritation. "You here to lecture me too?"

Odasaku didn't respond right away. Instead, he moved to stand beside Chuuya, his usual serene demeanour intact as he looked out into the dark streets. The quiet between them stretched, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It was the kind of silence that Odasaku carried with him - a silence that could soothe even Chuuya's volatile temper.

Chuuya shifted, glancing at the taller man from the corner of his eye. Oda looked as composed as ever, his reddish-brown hair falling slightly over his forehead, stubble marking his jaw. But it was those eyes - those calm, knowing eyes - that always managed to unnerve Chuuya. It was as if Odasaku could see straight through him.

"Something's on your mind," Oda said, not a question, but a simple statement.

Chuuya scoffed, crossing his arms defensively. "Yeah? So what if there is?"

Another pause. Oda didn't push, never did. He waited, patient as always, and it drove Chuuya insane. Part of him wanted to lash out, to tell Oda to leave him alone. But the larger part - the part he hated to acknowledge - wanted him to stay.

Finally, Chuuya let out a long breath, the tension in his shoulders easing just a little. "Everything's been messed up lately," he admitted, his voice quieter now. "The Port Mafia's in chaos, and it feels like... I don't know. Like I'm losing control."

Oda listened without interrupting, his gaze never wavering.

"I'm supposed to be strong," Chuuya continued, frustration creeping into his tone. "I'm supposed to be able to handle anything. But lately... it's like no matter what I do, it's not enough. Like I'm sinking."

Oda's expression softened, though he didn't say anything right away. After a moment, he spoke, his voice gentle. "Even gravity has its limits, Chuuya."

Chuuya blinked, turning to look at him fully. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Oda gave him a small, knowing smile. "It means you're human. No matter how strong you are, you're going to have moments where you feel like you can't carry everything on your own. That's not weakness."

Chuuya's jaw tightened. "I don't need to be coddled, Odasaku. I've survived worse."

"I know you have," Oda replied, his voice unwavering. "But you don't have to face it alone."

The words hit Chuuya harder than he expected. Alone. He had always been alone, hadn't he? Even surrounded by allied in the Mafia, eve fighting alongside people he trusted, there was always that sense of isolation. That feeling that no one truly understood him, no one could really stand by his side. Except... maybe Odasaku.

Chuuya scoffed again, though this time it was more out of discomfort than anger. "You make it sound so simple."

Oda turned to him, his eyes soft but firm. "It's not simple. But it's not impossible either."

Chuuya looked away, his heart pounding in a way that had nothing to do with anger. He hated how easily Oda could get under his skin, how his calm presence made Chuuya's walls feel fragile, like they could crumble with just a word.

But as much as he wanted to push Odasaku away, he couldn't. Not tonight.

"Why do you care, anyway?" Chuuya asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "You've always kept your distance. You're not like the rest of us. You don't... belong in the mess."

Oda's smile was sad this time. "Maybe I don't. But that doesn't mean I don't care."

Something inside Chuuya cracked at those words. It was stupid, how much they meant to him. How much he meant to him. And for once, Chuuya couldn't stop himself from asking the question that had been gnawing at him for longer than he wanted to admit.

"Why me?" Chuuya's voice was soft, vulnerable in a way he rarely let it be. "Why do you care so much about me?"

Odasaky didn't hesitate. "Because you're more than what everyone sees. You're more than the anger, more than the violence. You're strong, but you're also kind. You just don't let anyone see it."

Chuuya stared at him, his heart beating wildly in his chest. He hated how exposed he felt, but at the same time, he couldn't bring himself to look away.

Oda reached out then, placing a hand on Chuuya's shoulder. The touch was warm, grounding, and it sent a shiver through Chuuya's body. "You don't have to hide from me, Chuuya. Not anymore."

Chuuya swallowed hard, his throat tight with emotions he didn't want to confront. But as he looked into Oda's eyes, he realised something.

He didn't want to be alone anymore.

Without thinking, Chuuya took a step closer, his gloved hand reaching out to grasp Oda's coat. "I'm tired," he admitted, his voice barely audible. "I'm so tired, Odasaku."

Oda's expression softened even more, and at that moment, Chuuya felt like the weight of the world had finally been lifted off his shoulders.

"You don't have to carry it alone," Oda whispered, his hand gently squeezing Chuuya's shoulder. "Not anymore."

And for the first time in what felt like forever, Chuutya let himself lean into the warmth of another person's presence
