Heihachi hesitated slightly and touched Kazuya's shoulder. Jun gulped as she watched, but knew that this was the best way to end this.
Kazuya flinched at the touch. The strange feeling he had been having this whole time, it was strongest now. He turned around, meaning to confront whatever it was, and froze when he came face-to-face with the young Heihachi instead. The one person he's been trying to get away from, the one person he didn't want in his life, and he was standing right in front of him.
"I know you don't like seeing me," Heihachi sighed as he began. "But..."
He couldn't even say anything as Kazuya glared at him like that. Heihachi turned to Jun, who expectantly waited for her husband to answer. The rest had gathered around them as well, with Jin looking just as shocked as Kazuya did.
"I can't do this," Heihachi shook his head as he told Jun.
Kazuya turned to Jun too. "Wait. You... knew he was here the whole time?"
Jun was silent, her gaze falling to the ground as she slowly nodded. "Yes." She said a moment later.
"And... and... all of you knew about this?" Kazuya blurted out.
"I didn't," Jin stepped forward. He glared at Heihachi, then turned to his mother. "You brought him here? Mom, why?"
"I... I just want everyone to be at peace," Jun finally said. "And I know that Heihachi-san wishes for the same thing."
"I do," Heihachi added.
"But it's just that... it's so hard to be at peace when we're apart, we never knew of his next move, always thinking that he's about to attack," Jun went on. "And... and that's what makes us feel uneasy whenever he's around."
Kazuya shook his head, backing away slightly. "I can't believe that you would do this to me." He grabbed Jin's arm. "To us. After all that he had done to us."
"Shot me in the head, betrayed your trust," Jin added, shaking his head. "I don't like this, Mom. I know you meant good, but..." he shook his head again. "I don't think this can happen."
Kazuya turned to the rest, especially Nina's gang. "And you guys were in on this too." He turned to Lee and Anna, who looked at him in surprise. "Even you thought this was an Excellent idea. You saw everything that he did to us!"
"Kazuya..." Lee sighed, turning away since he didn't know what else to say.
Kazuya shook his head. "Save it. I don't want to talk to any of you." He glared at Heihachi. "Especially not you."
With that, he got into his Devil Form, bat-like wings sprouting on his back as his skin turned purple.
"Kazuya, wait!" Jun charged towards him, afraid that he was meaning to attack Heihachi.
Kazuya frowned at her as he started flying upwards, then disappeared into the sky. Jun sank into the ground, unable to speak, unable to cry. She had betrayed Kazuya, she tried to force him to accept Heihachi even when she knew that he couldn't.
"This is all my fault," Jun uttered, almost in a whisper.
Lars frowned at where Kazuya had disappeared off to. "We need to find him." He turned to Heihachi. "This isn't your fault, no matter how much it seems like it. But we need to find Kazuya right now. Who knows where he might have headed."
Jin shrugged, a scowl on his face. "Probably back to the resort to get his things and leave as soon as he can. I feel like doing that now too."
Lee shook his head. "No. Kazuya seemed like he just wanted to be alone to sulk. I suggest looking in high places like mountains and things."
"How about Mount Fuji?" Shasha suggested. "It's pretty nearby, right?"
Anna shook her head. "Not that near."
"Are there any other mountains nearby?" Nina sighed.
Steve sighed. "Lots."
"What about Eboshi Rock?" Adam suggested.
The rest turned to Jun.
"Do you sense him?" Lars asked.
Jun frowned and closed her eyes as she tried to locate his energy, which was growing fainter by the second. She pointed in front of her. "He went this way."
"We should follow him," Jin said, tattoo markings appearing on his forehead as his eyes started glowing. "I can catch him faster this way."
As soon as his wings appeared, he flew off as well.
"Let's get the cars," Lee quickly said.Heihachi was silent throughout the journey to Eboshi Rock.
"Come on, you know this isn't your fault, right?" Hwoarang said. "All you did was speak to him."
"Not now, Hwo," Steve sighed in the backseat.
Hwoarang ignored him. "Heihachi, you should relax."
"This is exactly why I didn't want to show myself," Heihachi exclaimed. "You saw how he reacted? It broke him."
"Well, to be fair, he was pretty broken from the start," Shasha couldn't help but say. "But that's only because... oh I don't wanna say it."
"Yes," Heihachi sighed. "And who knows what he's doing right now."
"Hopefully not destroying a forest," Steve frowned.
Shasha just shook her head at him. "You're not helping." She softly said.
Steve sighed. "And now we're mixed up in the middle of this."
"Hey, the one who's supposed to be saying that is here," Hwoarang pointed to himself. "I had nothing to do with this, and yet I'm helping. Unlike you."
"Please don't fight," Shasha groaned. "That's the last thing we need right now."
The boat ride to Ubashima was annoyingly slow. The rest said nothing else as they rode along.
"I sure hope Jin is having better luck than us," Lars sighed. "Imagine doing all of this and he isn't even there."
"I think he's there," Heihachi said. "I can feel it."
"Turns out, Auntie Jun isn't the only one that can sense things now," Shasha chuckled. "Alright, let's go."Kazuya sulked as he sat at the top of a large rock near Ubashima, now back to normal. The waves clashed against the rock, creating gentle but powerful splashes as he sat. The environment was peaceful with just the sounds of the sea surrounding Kazuya.
Why did Jun have to do this? Why tag Heihachi along for their holiday? She knew that he wouldn't accept him anyway, after all that he had done, why bring him with them? Why make peace? Distance was the best option.
It was as if Jun didn't remember how Heihachi had betrayed her when she had entrusted Jin in his care. If anything, he had done the exact opposite of taking care of Jin. He treated Jin the same way he treated Kazuya. Take care of his basic needs, and then turn against him when the time came.
And then there were the rest of them too, particularly Lee. Lee saw firsthand what Heihachi had done to them, raised in the same conditions that Kazuya had been through during childhood. He didn't have any love for them, saw his sons as insects as he 'cared' for them. The only thing he did was give them a home.
Kazuya stared at the sea ahead of him. It was peaceful here. There wasn't anything for him to care about. He wished he can stay here forever, away from Heihachi, away from whoever who betrayed him like that.
"Dad?" Kazuya looked up when Jin appeared, his feathered wings flapping to keep him in the air.
Kazuya shook his head, turning away from him. "Go away. Leave me alone."
Jin sighed as he landed beside him. "Come on, Dad. You can't sit here like this. It's dangerous."
"It's only dangerous if Heihachi is here to throw me or you off," Kazuya said. "Did your mother tell you about... her big master plan?"
Jin shook his head. "No. She didn't. But the rest of them knew, apparently."
"So we're the only ones left in the dark, then," Kazuya sighed. "Why is this happening? Can't that Old Fart just stay dead? How many times do we have to kill him?"
Jin sighed. "Well, he did seem concerned for you."
Kazuya frowned at him. "Have you forgotten how he shot you in the head?"
Jin shrugged. "Well, I had to. Because among those memories were you. And you weren't exactly kind to me either." He said, much to Kazuya's surprise. "But I know that it's not the same with Heihachi. He had no business throwing a five-year-old down a cliff like that."
Jin decided to leave instead, but kept Kazuya within his sight as he landed on a flatter rock.
