Chapter 3 - Pretty people in cult clothes

POV: 1st person

"Dear me. Of all the students I've dealt with, you're the first with temerity enough to open their own gate and step out of it. Does the very notion of patience elude you? No matter. Your orientation has already begun. Let us return to the Mirror Chamber." spoke the masked man. "Student?" "Gate?" asked Y/n and Yuu respectively.

"You awakened in a room full of gates, did you not?" asked the stranger as we begun walking towards the 'Mirror Chamber' 'Uhh no we did not. We woke up inside COFFINS, were y'all trying to bury us or smth??????' That was what was going through my head at the time as I barely acknowledged the man. Before I could think any further he cut off my thoughts. "All of the students here at the campus arrived by passing through such gates. Although typically the students have restraint enough to wait until I open them before waking up." commented the crow reincarnated. "Ja en jij had ook een beetje sneller mogen zijn, ik stikte bijna in die rot doos. Het was daar veel te muf naar mijn goesting"¹, I said, I said it in Dutch so he, hopefully, couldn't understand what I was complaining about. After I said that, he and Yuu looked at me as if I had grown two more heads.

¹ roughly translated it means: "Yeah and you could have been a bit quicker too, I almost choked in that god forsaken box. It was far too musty there for my liking"

Ignoring me, Yuu asked; "So those coffins are like...gateways?" "The design is intended to symbolize a parting with your former world, and a rebirth into a new one." the man replied. 'Wait why haven't we even asked who this man is, I mean StRaNgEr DaNgEr ExIsTs.' I thought before taking action on that thought. "First, just tell us 2 things; Where are we and Who the fuck are you?" "One, language, and two; Have you not fully regained consciousness? The timespace teleportation must have addled your memories... Well, these things happen, I suppose. I shall explain it to you while we walk. Truly, my magnanimity is boundless." he started to ramble after he pulled a Captain America / BBH on me. 

We walked through the courtyard as I gazed at the stars that we normally wouldn't be able to see with all the lights that are constantly on in our world. The man cleared his throat as he began to speak. "Ahem* This is Night Raven College. It is an institution for students the world over who demonstrate a rare aptitude for magic. It is the most prestigious academy of its sort in all of Twisted Wonderland. And I am Dire Crowley. Having been entrusted with its care by the chairman, I serve as headmage." 'This clown is headmage? What a joke. All this wet sock of a man knows is how to praise himself. His ego must be astronomical.' I immediately thought about the 'headmage' named Crowley. "Magic?! Academy?" voiced Yuu. 'Yes academy dumbass, he said he was headmage, would make sense if the headmage was sort of the headmaster of a school. Although I would probably also panic about it if I hadn't half expected it' It was true, I did kind of expect it.

"Only those who the Dark Mirror perceives as having a talent for magic are admitted to the college. Those who are selected are summoned to the campus through those 'gates,' which can appear anywhere. A black carriage bearing one such gate should have come to meet you." replied Crowley as he acknowledged Yuu's questions and reaction. "I do kinda remember crossing a dark forest...  and I do kinda remember a horse with a scary face..." Yuu mumbled quietly. "Scary? I thought the horses were adorable and gave them an apple."

"That black carriage serves to receive a student chosen by the Dark Mirror. It too bears a gate that connects to this campus. And as you know, sending a carriage to meet someone on a special day is a time-honored tradition." Hah? "So this carriage dragged me here against my will?" commented Yuu. 'I kinda got myself in this since I crawled into the carriage myself' I sweatdropped at my thoughts. Grim screamed out a few muffles as I jumped a bit since I totally forgot he was there. Can't judge me, he had a forgettable presence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. "Now, let us attend to your orientation." said Crowley as we arrived at a big door.

"We're done with orientation and dorm assignments? All right, new students—let me be clear. At Heartslabyul House, I am the law. Break the rules, and it's off with your head!" yelled out a red haired boy. Then a boy with what it seemed like lion ears spoke up lazily; "*Yawn* Well, that ceremony was as boring as ever. I'm going back to the dorm. If you're in Savanaclaw House, follow me."

"New students! Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your achievement. As dorm leader of Octavinelle House, I am honored to have the opportunity to support you in what I hope will be a fulfilling campus experience." spoke a posh sounding student with glasses. After that an absolute hottie spoke up, "Hey, does anyone know where the headmage went? He disappeared midway through the ceremony..." "Some headmage he is." sounded from a floating tablet. Lastly a boy with red eyes spoke; "Maybe he had a tummyache?" 'omg that was adorable, I love him already. Must protecc the bean!' I thought as I gazed at the students. "Hanna?" i spoke quietly to my AI. "Yes, ma'am?" I heard from my glasses as I ignored everyone around me for a moment as they were murmering anyways. "What kind of school is Night Raven College? What do they offer to learn?" I asked my precious assistant. "Night Raven College is a prestigious four-year arcane academy. Its doors are only open to students deemed to possess magical aptitude as determined by a magical artifact called the Dark Mirror. There are also multiple clubs to choose from to do in the free time." Hanna answered. "Okay thank you Hanna" I said as I turned the glasses off and begun to pay attention.

"I most certainly did not!" screamed Crowley out, almost offended at the accusation as he threw the doors open. As Yuu and I shuffled in the room the red head spoke up again. "Ah, speak of the devil." "If you must know, I was searching for the new students who'd failed to show for orientation. You are two the only ones who has yet to be assigned a dorm. Step up to the Dark Mirror, and be quick about it. I'll watch your weasel." Crowley said accusingly to us.
