Chapter 15 - cooking time

Finally we got to the mirror and went through. There stood, Crowley waiting and talking to Riddle. Crowley honestly looked like an anxious papa bird, while Riddle was like a silent predator waiting for their prey, which would be Ace and Deuce in this case. They both caught sight of us and Crowley practically ran towards us and started checking for any injuries on me, knowing that I was stuck in a cave.

POV: 3rd person

As Crowley inspected Y/n, he ignored the rest. Riddle took advantage of this and started scolding the Heartslabyul duo. Grim and Yuu were ultimately ignored by everyone. After a bit, Crowley finally calmed down after a lot of reassurance from Y/n and Hana.

Y/n pulled out the magestone ore and presented it to the headmage, to show him that they did not come back empty handed. Only then did Crowley and Riddle notice the giant scythe laying on her shoulder. It was safe to say that Riddle was in a frozen-like state and Crowley was fussing about everything and scolding the boys for letting the girl walk around with a giant deadly weapon.

Y/n tried so hard to keep her laughter to herself, but let a few chuckles escape as she detransformed the scythe back to its pen state. 

~~Timeskip to after all the scoldings~~

After the scoldings were finally complete, Crowley sent us back to the dorm after announcing that Grim and Yuu will be able to attend as 1 student, Yuu being the brains and Grim the magics. Riddle dragged the two other idiots back to Heartslabyul after nodding at Y/n in acknowledgement. 

On the walk back to the dorm, they had a few conversations before finally arriving. Yuu went to go freshen up and Y/n made dinner for the three of them while Grim stayed to watch Y/n cook. 

She decided to make the national dish of Belgium, Moules frites. To begin, she gathered all the ingredients; 1kg fresh mussels, 3 large spring onions, 1 large shallot (peeled and halved), 1 carrot (peeled and halved lengthways), 2 fat garlic cloves (peeled), 1 fresh red chilli, 1 bunch thyme, handful flat-leaf parsley, 100ml olive oil, about 150ml dry white wine (ideally Muscadet), 1 tsp Pernod, 2 tbsp crème fraîche. The ingredients for the fries; 2 large potatoes about 300g each, peeled (preferably Maris Piper, King Edward or Weltje), about 3 tbsp plain flour, ½ tsp cayenne pepper, oil for deep frying (ideally light olive oil). For the mayonnaise; 2 egg yolks, ½ tsp mustard (powder), 150ml light olive oil and 1 tsp white wine vinegar.

She then tipped the mussels into a large bowl of cold water, discarding any that remained open when tapped. She drained and pulled away the 'beards' ('beards' are fresh mussels that look black and shiny. It should only smell pleasantly of the deep sea - the vast majority should be tightly closed. Avoid any that smell 'fishy', look dry or are mostly open.)

After, Y/n thinly sliced the vegetables and garlic. She rolled the chili in her hands to loosen the seeds, slit it open and shook out the seeds. She sliced the flesh into thin sticks, then stacked them together and finely chopped. Y/n picked over the thyme sprigs, discarding the thick stalks and picked the parsley leaves from the stalks. She then prepared the fries(I'm gonna skip the process of making the mayonnaise and fries. Sorry just imagine she prepared them before making the mussels)
