You were lounging on the living room floor, sorting through an old box of random things you'd pulled out from the back of your closet. Katie was sprawled on the sofa nearby, scrolling on her phone, glancing up occasionally to watch you with mild interest. Among the dusty postcards, mismatched socks, and random knickknacks, you spotted a deck of Pokémon cards you'd had since you were a kid. A sly grin crept onto your face as an idea began to form.

"Hey," you called, holding up the cards. "You want a tarot reading?"

Katie arched a brow, lowering her phone. "Darlin', those are Pokémon cards," she replied, voice thick with scepticism.

You shrugged, shuffling the deck in your hands with an exaggerated sense of purpose. "Same difference. They'll tell you all you need to know about your future. Come on, don't you want to see what the universe has in store for you?"

She sighed, rolling her eyes, but you could see the amusement starting to creep onto her face. "Alright, let's hear it then, Madame Psychic. What're the stars sayin' for me?"

You cleared your throat, adopting a mystical tone as you held up the first card you "drew." "Alright, Katie, brace yourself... You got a Magikarp."

She squinted at you, clearly unimpressed. "A Magikarp? Tha' useless fish thing?"

You nodded solemnly, keeping a straight face. "Yep, Magikarp. It's a very powerful symbol, Katie. It speaks to your inner spirit."

She looked at the card again, then back at you, expression unreadable. "An' what's me 'inner spirit' supposed ta be tellin' me, then?"

You held back a laugh, lowering your voice dramatically. "It means... well, it means 'fuck you.'"

There was a moment of silence as she processed this. Her lips twitched, and you could tell she was fighting not to laugh. "Is tha' right? My inner spirit's tellin' me 'fuck you,' is it?"

You nodded, biting the inside of your cheek to keep from bursting out laughing. "That's what the Magikarp says. Very powerful message."

She leaned back, crossing her arms as she fixed you with an unimpressed look. "Darlin', if me 'inner spirit' was sayin' 'fuck you,' I wouldn' need a Magikarp ta tell me tha'. I'd just say it meself."

You finally let out a laugh, dropping the cards onto the floor. "Oh, come on! You've got to admit, I had you there for a second."

Katie rolled her eyes, but a smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth. "Had me, did ya? Not likely." She shook her head, amused. "Only you'd try ta use Pokémon cards as a tarot deck."

"It was worth a shot," you replied, still chuckling. "Besides, I think Magikarp's the perfect spirit guide for you."

She scoffed, feigning offence. "A useless fish tha' flops about doin' nothin'? Tha's what you think o' me, eh?"

You leaned closer, grinning. "Nah, not useless at all. Just a little... dramatic."

Katie narrowed her eyes playfully. "Dramatic, am I?"

You raised your hands in defence. "In the best way possible! I mean, no one else could make complaining about training sound like a Shakespearean monologue."

She reached over and gave your shoulder a gentle shove. "Yer lucky yer cute, darlin'. Otherwise, I'd be tossin' yer Magikarp cards out the window."

"Oh, please, you love my nonsense," you teased, nudging her with your shoulder.

She laughed, shaking her head as she looked down at the scattered cards. "Aye, maybe I do." She picked up the Magikarp card, eyeing it thoughtfully. "But if this is me spirit card or whatever ya called it, then I want a second opinion."

You smirked, pulling a random card off the top of the pile and flipping it over. "Alright then. Let's see... you got a Snorlax."

She snorted, rolling her eyes. "Ah, great. So now I'm a lazy, sleepin' giant, am I?"

You shrugged, grinning. "Maybe the universe is trying to tell you to take a nap. You're always going a hundred miles an hour; you could use a break."

Katie let out a huff, but you could see the hint of a smile. "Maybe I do need a break—from you."

"Oh, you wound me," you replied, pressing a hand to your chest dramatically. "But don't worry, I'm still here to guide you on this spiritual journey."

She rolled her eyes but leaned closer, resting her head on your shoulder with a playful sigh. "Alright, Madame Psychic, guide me, then. But if you try an' tell me I'm a feckin' Jigglypuff, I'm endin' this 'readin'."

You couldn't help but laugh as you wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer. "Fine, fine. I'll let the cards speak for themselves. But I'm pretty sure Magikarp still stands."

She looked up at you, eyes soft and warm. "Yer ridiculous, ya know that?"

You grinned, pressing a quick kiss to her forehead. "I'm just keepin' things interesting. Admit it—you'd be bored without me."

Katie let out a dramatic sigh, but you could feel her smiling against your shoulder. "Aye, maybe yer right... but if I end up dreamin' about Magikarp, I'm blamin' you."

You laughed, hugging her tighter. "I'll take the blame."

And as the two of you sat there, tangled together in the warm, quiet moment, you knew that no matter how ridiculous you were, there was nowhere else either of you would rather be.
