I drove home, the rain starting up. The rain streaked street was glistening in the tangerine street lights. That boy that bumped into me was still plaguing my mind, his big sepia eyes following me. He was so handsome, so sweet. Even though I almost lost my perfect attendance record, he still allured me to no end. From his densely black hair held back by a snap back to his soft, warm skin, he was so cute.
I pulled into the driveway, knowing my mom had the lecture ready. I had to drop Arielle and Britney at home, then go to the library to get a book for English and completed my homework there, then I was starving so I stopped by Panera and purchased a blueberry muffin.
I realized quickly that Alaina, my older sister, came home as her red BMW had been parked in the driveway. And that Dad was home, his black Escalade right by my spot. The windows of our massive home glowed in a golden light. Some good times must be happening inside the Scott house. My phone buzzed as I turned off the car.
Marjorie😉| His names' Andre Kelley

Me| He slammed into me😂

Me| TTYL, Dad's back
Marjorie😉| Ok. Bye Hailie
Me| Bye!I opened the chocolate door and instantly became cheered upon. Everyone was super surprised once I stepped through the door. I tossed down my bag and Alaina ran up to me.
"Hailie!" She cheered and I suddenly was suffocated by the scent of blueberries. I hugged her back tightly, knowing I looked like a complete wreck.
She led me into the kitchen, where a bright light tinted everyone's faces.
My mom, who's honey blonde hair was now ponytail free, with a smile and a downy red sweater remained on the far right of the rounded glass kitchen table. Whitney, who's in the middle, had on a lavender tank top now and the same black leggings from before. Her eyeliner became faded and her hair in a messy bun. Alaina's empty chair which was next to Whit's, only seated her sable leather bag. And finally, in the last chair on the far end sat my dad. His dyed blonde hair was concealed by a black hood that hung loosely off of his now skinny frame. He was laughing and conversing with the others until he saw me, boring into my soul with his oversized blue eyes.
We locked eyes and he got up to hug me. No tears slipped from my eyes, I'd learned not to be to emotional when he came home. It still was a huge deal, though. Finally, the dam behind my irises broke and a balmy tear slipped from me. Hey, I tried not to be teary about him returning, but I wasn't made of stone. His scent of soft cologne enveloped me as we slowly rocked back and forth.
"I missed you, Hailie." He said as we back up. He used his index finger to wipe away a fresher tear that was trailing down my cheeks.
"I missed you too." I said, smiling lightly as I did so. A chorus of "aw" erupted from everyone else.
I sat down next to Alaina after she pulled me a chair. I mostly updated everyone on my personal life, social life etc. Then everyone else started asking Lanie, Whitney and mom to start sharing. We'd all been away from each other for a pretty lengthy amount of time. Afterwards, we started joking around with each other in the way that families did.
After Alaina went home, it was about 11:00. Whitney was asleep upstairs and mom was cleaning up the kitchen after we all ate more of the chicken she'd bought. I showered, slipped into a pair of gray sweatpants and a baggy off white t-shirt. I tied my hair up in a ragged ponytail and texted Arielle and some other friends.
"Hey Hailie! I'm about to leave!" I heard Dad call out. I ran downstairs to the front door. Yes, he was leaving, car keys in hand. I hugged him once more and he kissed my forehead. My mom opened the door, revealing the cold night.
