*Early June
The past couple months were a stressful but awesome blur of events. I got accepted into the University of Michigan due to my sudden hard work in school. After the roof party (which mainly consisted of Arielle, Majorie, Dre, Shady and I just dancing to old hip hop, drinking Adande style and when we were all done, we were all washed by the giant pale colored moon, looking over my fathers giant neighborhood) my relationship with my dad wasn't as rough as it used to be. I traded my sweaters and leggings for tank tops, crop tops and shorts.I wasn't sure how I was going to keep in touch with Andre, but I knew our relationship couldn't end like that. I was with my mom, Whitney staying with us.
I awoke late, texting Ri for a little bit and laying back down to pretend to sleep
When the sun finally crept in on me, I chose to get up. It was a simple, hot sunny day so I decided on a deep purple crop top and a pair of light blue jean shorts. I slipped into some flip flops and applied some makeup. Easy and light routine with a thin stream of eyeliner, a bit of concealer to hide my dark circles that were starting to reappear due to school and some red lipstick. I pushed up my slipping infinity ring and concluded I looked good enough.I walked down the stairs to see Whitney sitting down. She's in her usual British singer branded top and some shorts. Her hair was wading on her shoulder with a bow in it. My mother was there.
Meanwhile my dad and I's relationship had been stable, my mom and I's relationship feel to shlit. She's been on my untrustworthy list ever since she showed up at my party drunk and fighting with Dad's lady friend. She knows it too, and refuses to say anything to me other than how awful my dad's lady friend is. And how awful he is. And I was sick to fugging death of it.
I was cooking some oatmeal in the microwave while munching on an orange. She walked over to me, the stench of halitosis on her breath. I disliked to look at her now, her always appearing ugly and gross to me now.
"Hey Hailie." She slurred. I could tell she was a little drunk. I know she drank to move past her boyfriend cheating on her, but still.
"Hello." I said, pulling my now cooked oatmeal bowl from the fridge. I was walking swiftly over to the table where Whitney was snapping selfies. The dumb whore followed me. She pulled up a seat next to me.
"Hailie baby, I wanted to know how you'd feel about moving?" She said. Her alcohol breath was more than I could stand. I scooted closer to Whit.
"Um, no." I said, thinking of all the possible outcomes of it.
"Well, what if I did. Your dumb, worthless father is destroying me, Hailie! You don't even notice, you don't even care!!" She screamed and Whitney looked at her with a strange look.
"You know what?! You need to go to effing rehab. All of this is in your head. My dad isn't doing squat. You're way too unstable right now." I said, getting up and storming out. I grabbed the keys, Whits and my things and motioned for her to hurry up. I knew it'd be a bit cramped in my two door car with Ari, Britney and my sister, but I had to take her to school.
We pulled out of the driveway. I saw as my mom watched us leave, throwing down a bottle of alcohol. The two of us were listening to Tech N9n's Anghelic album and talking about the upcoming summer. Graduation was literally in one, far away seeming day. The past few weeks were a rush of studying, finals and prom which I attended with Andre.
We entered Arielle's neighborhood and I beeped when pulled up to her house. Arielle Welsh, still with her pink to red ombré, clad in a tank top, shorts and Timbaland boots ran out, book bag swinging behind her. Britney ran out after her, they got in and we all drove off to Whit's school first.
Arielle put on "Still D.R.E." in honor of what we played when we were jamming out on the flattest part of my roof.
"My mom is so fugging annoying!" She announced over Dr. Dre's rapping.
"Same!" I agreed.
"She said I was going to die forever a virgin because I still don't have a boyfriend." Ari laughed.
"Like she was any different!" I called out. The sound from the car seemed to shake the road itself.
"I know!" Ari said and we fell back into the regular routine of dancing with our terrible white people car moves. This time, I knew Brit and Whitney were snapping us.
I realized this was the final time I'd be driving Arielle and Britney to school. I dropped my little sister off, telling her Dad or Uncle Nate was going to come get her (I had to set that up later). Even though the ride wasn't over as we pulled into the repopulated student parking lot, it still hurt me.
Ari, Britney and I all got out. None other than Ri herself was there for us as Britney ran off to join her friends on her final day of school. It just be the seniors and their parents tomorrow.
We all linked bare arms and walked into school. After a few minutes, Andre spotted us and walked over. He was wearing a white shirt with the members of NWA on it. It hurt me so bad about having to leave Andre for college. Especially since we swore to the wear infinity rings until death back in March.
"Aye Hailie." He greeted and kissed me on the cheek. I smiled and kissed him back.
"Hey." I said, pushing back a lock of hair.
"Hey Ri, hey Ari." He said and the girls waved at him. Ever since prom, we've all been super close. Shady and Ashlee were still in our group, but pulled an Adande and Ashlee began to skip a lot.
We were all cracking jokes and sharing stories in our usual circle around the hunter green lockers whilst the rest of the students passed us by on their last day of high school.
It was moments like these where I wanted to break down crying. I wanted to just burst into tears because I knew I'd never get to see Andre (the best thing that's ever happened to me), Arielle (my ride or die since the braids 'n braces days of sixth grade) and Marjorie (my other ride or die that came in near the end of eighth grade) unless we'd keep in serious touch. And I planned that already with my best friends, but Dre.
It finally looked like Andre Kelley was going to walk out of my life for good after tomorrow. And there was nothing I could do about it.
/Hey lovelies. Sorry to leave you guys on a sad note😭. But as you may not know, this is the last of Hailie's POVs. It's going to go Marshall, Catharine and the last will be Andre. And well, let's just say that you'll might want to save your tissues for Andre😂. It's been such an effing blast writing, editing and all that for you. And I hope to see your arses on '96. QOTC: What's your favorite quote from N2F? Mine maybe is when Hailie gave Andre the rings and she was like "We're infinite now." Okay, catch ya later😉~MII\
