I awoke late. I was so scared last night about the school being called, I barely got any sleep last night. I don't even want to go to school today, but I have to otherwise Dad would call the school, no doubt revealing the truth. I rolled over to the other side of my warm, large bed to my phone. Andre's texted me and I check it.

Andre😍| I've never been this scared in my life
Me| Ik.
Andre😍| U comin to school?
Me| Have to :/
Andre😍| Oh :( I might as well show up, too
Me| Ok. See u and Adande there?
Andre😍| Yeah. Ily Hailie, see you soon

God, if Andre was afraid, what did that mean for me? My parents actually cared about my education. I pushed the feelings aside as I got up and made my bed.

I played "Dollhouse" by Melanie Martinez to get over myself. I changed my outfit to an oversized cream sweater, gray skinny jeans and cream Converses. Washing my face, brushing my teeth super hard and doing my mascara, eyeliner and EOS, I was ready for school. I did my hair in a low messy bun and grabbed all my things for school.

I was getting ready to drive off to school. Arielle stopped riding with me after her mom forced her too. I texted her as I made my breakfast bagel and grabbed a cup of cranberry juice. My dad was up early, walking downstairs and rubbing his eyes. I rolled mine and met him at the bottom of the staircase to kiss him on the cheek before leaving.

"Aw Hailie, you leaving already?" He asked, sounding actually quite sad about me.

"Yeah." I said, hugging him quickly before grabbing the keys from my book bag. I jump into the car, played some JayZ and drive away with my dad watching me leave from the door. The heat was all the way up on 86 degrees because of how freezing it was.

I pulled into the lot and rushed into the school. Partly to get away from the cold and partly to get into the school before any authority. Marjorie'Anne looked at me with a nervous face. She's wearing a long sleeved emerald dress that brings out the color in her eyes. We talked on FaceTime all last night about how nervous I was, because Arielle had to study for mid terms.

"Oh my God, Hai. Did anyone say anything the school say anything?" She said, twirling a long lock of her curled black hair. Just watching her struck fear in my heart.

"No, thank The Lord. And for the love of God, stop twirling your hair. It's making me so nervous." I said and Ri laughed.

"Okay. I just like to see my best friend alive." She said as we sat down to regular math, since I was terrible at it.

I looked across the room to see a familiar face. Ashlee Winston was looking at me, a conniving face directed at me. I know she hated, maybe it's because I'm dating Dre and she wants to date him. I don't know why, she has Kaiden.

Mrs. Mathis walks in and starts with a thick stack of papers in her dark colored hands. Her hair looked like a brown and blonde sun and I have to fight back the laughs.

It was lunchtime, and by now the feelings of rue and fright resided. I bought turkey sandwich, a Gatorade and some chips. I sat down at the usual, circular speckled table with Andre, Arielle, Ri, Kaiden and reluctantly Ashlee. My friends hit it off with Andre's friends early in the month, prompting a quick visit to Adande behind the gym during lunch.

Arielle's half blonde half black locks are up in a stylish bun and her plain dark jeans and long-sleeved blink-182 t-shirt say everything you needed to know about her. Ashlee kept trying to touch my boyfriend, but he moved away. Kaiden seemed oblivious as he kept his hand on her shoulder. Everyone else in the room was doing their own thing.

"So, updates?" Ari inquired after taking a quick swig of her Dasani before tearing into her greasy slice of cheese pizza.

"Still no sign of trouble." Dre reported as he ate a Taco Bell burrito. I swore, fast food was all this boy ate. I understood he couldn't buy school lunch and rarely got any sort of meals at home. And it's not like I'd leave him if he gained a lot of weight. He could weigh 200 pounds and I would love him just the same.
