The quicker my wounds began to heal, the quicker my relationship with Hailie rebuilt. She's staying at her mom's because her Dad's with some other lady. I don't really care though. I finally get to spend some time with my favorite girl. Adande, Shady, Gabriella, Marjorie, Ari even Ashlee have all shown up to check in on me in the past couple days.
I don't care though, I finally get to be back with my favorite girl.
Her birthday was coming closer and I wanted to get something she loved. Not something that every boyfriend gives their girlfriend, something different. I was awaiting her come back to my house. She showed up everyday, and I'm still amazed at the fact she showed up as often as she did.
Now I don't have any doubts that Hailie loved me just as much as I loved her.
I took a fresh shower, changed into a gray hoodie and comfortable black pants. I washed my face, brushed my teeth and brushed my hair into its usual style. I then walked back into my room where The Chronic was playing loudly.
My mom had been extremely quiet and so has Audriana. I don't think she'd notice if I died from the gunshot wound. They dissected it out of my stomach, a big red scar above my bellybutton. It looked like a rosy sea in a desert of coffee colored skin.
I plopped down on my creaking bed and started texting Shady. I was eating a granola bar I snuck from downstairs, it making a crunchy noise. I hadn't check my drawer for a little bit, assuming the money was still in its jade fullness.
But, I decided to check today, just to see how much I could spend on Hailie. I carefully pulled open the dirty black drawer. I dug down to the bottom of the drawer, pulling apart something.
My fingers wrapped around a disappointingly light wad. I looked at it. Rage filled my mind as I looked at my money supply. It had diminished from 200$ to maybe 100$. I kicked the drawer, causing it to shake strongly.
"Stupid, disgusting blitch!" I shouted. It wasn't difficult to see who did it. It was obviously my mom. I stormed out to inquire her.
I hadn't been in her room for maybe three years, but this time it was important. I It was cluttered in bottles so old there's mold in them, used needles, various other outfits and ash trays upon ash trays. She sat there, atop a mountain of clothing.
It's always dark in here, so I'm surprised I can make over out. Her burnt colored lengthy arms and scrawny legs were intertwined. I was grossed out by how skinny she was.
"Andre! Whatcha doin' in here-" She started and I cut her off by slapping the absolute shlit out of her. She held her cheek before jumping atop me and punching my wound. It hurt so bad, but I wasn't ready to give up yet.
"You know how much I needed that money! Why'd you steal it?! Why?!" I shouted and Audriana peeked in. I threw a wayward bottle at her and she ran out as quickly as a nearly obese nine year old could run.
"I needed to pay my bills, Dre!" She said, her shouts rivaling mine. I upped my game.
"So, you do that by stealing my fuggin' money?!" I yelled and she screamed at me.
"Dre! You know how bad my situation is!!" She shouted, jabbing me sharply in my wound. I wanted to tear up in pain. But I stood my ground.
"Really? Really?! I got fuggin' shot while taking Ana to McDonalds. She's falling to pieces and you wanna talk about yourself?! What did you do with it?!" I demanded. My mom suddenly looked down.
"Well?! What did you spend it on?!" I knew for a fact it wasn't on the "bills" like she claimed.
"Okay! Fine! I spent it on more weed, alcohol and shoes for myself. You don't understand, Dre! I needed it!!" She said and takes a bottle and attempted to throw it at my head. I ducked and stomped out to avoid doing something I might regret. I put on my off brand shoes and left.
I slammed the door so hard I could have sworn I broke it. I walked around through the deep snow to the fence. Climbing over it and landing on my feet, I finally made it to my abandoned backyard.
So many bad memories. So many terrible times. All hit me at once and I cried. I sat on the broken, half snow hurried swing set and just let it all out for the first time in nearly five years. Half my money: gone
"Andre?" I heard my name and through my blurred tears I caught glimpse of Hailie. Her face was surrounded by a fur liner in her expensive coat. Her blonde hair was being whipped around by the wind. I watched as a car drove away before we were alone.
"Yeah?" I said, wiping the tears from my eyes. I couldn't let her see me like this.
"How'd you get back there?" She inquired and I walked up to her. She was seeing covered a little by the 5'5 high fence. I helped her climb over and I caught her in my arms when she seemed to fall on her back.
We walked over to the swing set. She sat down on the set and I sat in the thick, deep snow. A layer of ice supported me from falling down into it. I told her the entire story off hat happened and she gasped when I was done. Then she told me about how her mom was turning her against her dad with lies. We shared a laugh about how screwed up our parents were and then I cupped her compact, glove less hands in mine.
"No matter what happens in our lives, you have to promise me that we'll never be too far from each other." I said. The snow was on our clothes and she smiled. She lightly kissed my cold cheek, warming it a bit.
"Never too far?" She inquired.
"Never, ever too far." I said and she gave me a balmy, large hug. Being careful not squeeze the wounds, it lasted for awhile.
I just hope it stayed that way...
