It hit the floor with a thud that seemed to echo throughout the lecture hall. I could feel everyone's eyes on me immediately.
Galing.
Mabilis akong umupo para hindi na mapansin pa ng iba, but it was too late. People were whispering. Some were even looking at me like I had just walked into the wrong dimension.
I sighed and tried to focus on the lecture. It wasn't easy with the entire class gossiping about me.
My eyes instinctively moved to the girl in the front. She stood up, and her dark, wavy hair followed her movement.
I stared at her and my heart literally stopped beating. Her beauty was unlike anything I've seen before. Her features were soft and delicate. Her lips and cheeks were pinkish. Ilang minuto yata ako natulala sa kaniya.
Kakaiba 'yung ganda e. She didn't need to try, she was simply undeniable, like otherworldly.
When she started speaking, I didn't expect her words to hit me harder than I thought they would. Ang lalim ng sagot niya tungkol sa idea ng adaptation, not just in biology but in life.
It felt like she was speaking from experience, as if she had faced her own demons and had to adapt to survive. I couldn't help but admire her for that.
Even Sir Joshua looked at her amusingly. But I noticed something.
She seemed... uncomfortable. Like sharing that piece of herself had drained her. I couldn't help but feel a sudden urge to check if she was okay. Without thinking, I stood up and walked over to her.
"Hey, are you okay?" I whispered, not knowing how else to start.
She looked up at me, clearly surprised that I was even speaking to her.
Manika ba 'to?
She stared at me, confused for a second. "Uh, yes, I'm fine," she replied quickly, but I could tell she wasn't. She seemed... distant.
"Are you sure? Mukhang-"
"I said I'm fine," she interrupted, her voice sharp, cutting through my words. "Can you please move away?"
I froze for a second, caught off guard.
I quickly stepped back, apologizing. "Oh, I'm sorry. Sorry."
I didn't expect her to point out that I was in the wrong class. Ngayon ko lang naalala. Nakakahiya. Alis na nga ako.
"Oh, yeah, yeah. I must have mixed up the room numbers. Thanks for letting me know." I said sheepishly as I moved back toward the door.
