Kelly dreaded getting out of bed this morning. She could barely get any sleep, the image of Casey's lifeless body haunted her all night. Kelly stared at her alarm that was continuously ringing.
"Why can't you break that alarm like you broke your phone?" Zachary grumbled entering her room, he yawned and rubbed his eyes then shut it off.
Kelly stayed silent, she took in a deep breath and dragged her hands down her face.
"Kids, get in here quickly!" Mr. Wilson was heard from the living room
"Woodsboro was devastated last night when two young teenagers, Casey Becker and Steve Orth were found brutally butchered. Authorities have yet to issue a statement but our sources tell us that no arrest has been made and the murderer could strike again..." A news reporter on the tv said
"Ugh not Gale Weathers" Kelly quickly shut off the tv
"What a shame" Mr. Wilson sadly shook his head
"How's that for karma" Zack jokingly nudged his sister
"Not funny" Kelly pushed Zack off the couch armrest.
Kelly decided to get ready for school, her father didn't give her much of a choice. It's not like she wanted to tell anyone what she witnessed last night. She threw on whatever clothing she could find, prioritizing comfort over style which made her feel safer.
She'd hoped to get to school before Tatum did, she wanted to make sure Stu or Randy wouldn't tell her what happened last night. As much as she loved Tatum, she had a real gossiping problem. Kelly was not in the mood.
Kelly drove her and Zack to school. The car ride was mostly silent because they were listening to the news station talk about the murders.
Kelly parked her car and met up with Sidney who was making her way towards the school building. They both suddenly felt finger taps on their shoulders, they spun around and saw Tatum.
"Can you believe this shit?" Tatum asked referring to the herd of news reporters and police cars surrounding the school.
"What happened?" Sidney curiously asked
"You don't know?" Kelly asked in slight shock, it was all she heard about this morning.
Sidney shrugged unsure of what was happening.
"Casey and Steve were killed last night!" Tatum exclaimed
"No way" Sidney's eyes widened
"And not just killed, Sid. We're talking splattered movie killed, split opened end to end" Tatum continued
Kelly held her stomach and mouth, she felt like she was about to throw up.
"Casey sits next to us in English" Sidney sighed
"Not anymore. Her parents found her hanging from a tree. Her insides on the outside"
Kelly couldn't take it anymore, she hurled over and threw up in a nearby bush. Sidney and Tatum rushed to her side.
"You okay?" Sidney held back Kelly's hair.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm gonna go see the nurse" Kelly wiped her mouth and rushed away from the girls.
"Hope you feel better!" Tatum shouted after her.
"Poor Kelly, this whole thing is making me feel sick too" Sidney said
"Yeah, Dewey said this is the worst crime they've ever seen. Even worse than..." Tatum stopped herself realizing she was about to bring up Sidney's mother's murder.
"Well it's bad" Tatum tried to play it off. ——————————————————————————- Kelly left the nurses office. The first bell was about to ring so she decided to stop by her locker.
The hallways were still pretty empty but there was one dark haired boy standing near the end of it.
"Hey Billy" Kelly walked up to him, his back was facing towards her.
Kelly had startled Billy so he jumped a little. He dropped something from his hand but scrambled to quickly to catch it. He turned around to face Kelly, rapidly shoving whatever he was holding into his pocket.
Kelly looked curiously at Billy, but decided to just shrug it off. He was always a little weird to her.
"Oh uh hey Kelly" Billy brushed a strand of hair out of his face, he shifted around nervously.
"Sidney's still outside I think" Kelly said
"Oh right, I was just about to meet her. Uh wh-what are you doing in here?" Billy stuttered a bit
"I had to go to nurse. Have you seen what's going on outside? It makes me feel so sick"
"Oh yeah, it's a real bummer...well uh I hope you feel better. I'm gonna go find Sidney now" Billy awkwardly scooted past Kelly. ——————————————————————————— When Kelly walked into her classroom room she found Stu sitting where Zack usually would be sitting.
"Hiya" Stu smiled
Kelly lightly smiled in return. She had no energy to deal with Stu's antics today. She just wanted peace and quiet.
"Aren't you gonna ask?" Stu said, referring to why he was sitting in Zack's seat.
"No" Kelly bluntly replied
"Aw come on don't be a frowny franny, I just wanted to make sure you were okay" Stu over dramatically pouted.
"I'm fine" Kelly forcibly smiled
"Seriously!? First my girl, now my seat" Zack bursted inside the classroom
"Sorry man, first come first serve" Stu leaned back in his chair and placed his hands behind his head.
"First come first serve, bleh bleh bleh" Zack mockingly said.
Kelly finally cracked a real smile and even a small giggle. Zack and Stu both shared accomplished looks, they were happy to finally see her in a good mood. Even if it would only last a few minutes.
"Hey do they have any idea who did it?" Kelly leaned over and whispered to Stu later on during class.
"Fucking clueless, they're interrogating the entire school. Teachers, students, staff, janitors" Stu whispered back
"They think it's school related?"
"They don't know, but it's bad. They're bringing in the feds, this is huge."
Kelly sat back up in her seat. Her face was deeply pained. She held her stomach again, trying to remain composed.
