It was a quiet morning in Seokjin's little flower shop, the soft scent of roses and lilies filling the air as the early sunlight streamed through the glass windows. The calm of the morning was soon interrupted by the gentle ring of the doorbell as Taehyung walked in, a wide grin on his face and a small bouquet of baby’s breath clutched in his hands.Seokjin looked up from arranging a bouquet of roses, raising a curious eyebrow. "What’s this? Buying flowers for the florist himself?"
Taehyung chuckled, stepping up to the counter and handing Seokjin the bouquet. "No, hyung. I thought I’d get something pretty for someone even prettier," he said, his voice gentle but with a hint of mischief. "You deserve flowers too, you know."
Seokjin laughed, twirling a stem between his fingers. "What, because I'm a flower myself?" He chuckled at his own silliness, but Taehyung's gaze never wavered, his eyes soft and adoring.
"Exactly," Taehyung murmured, his voice low, barely audible over the quiet background music playing in the shop. He looked at Seokjin like he was the only person in the world, the one who had captured his heart completely.
It had only been two months since Taehyung had first walked through those doors, supposedly to buy a bouquet for a friend. But something had shifted in him that day when Seokjin greeted him with a warm smile, and since then, he’d found every excuse he could to come back. For weeks, he'd been asking Seokjin out for coffee, hoping each time he might say yes. But Seokjin always seemed to brush it off with a polite excuse or a shy smile, never giving him a clear answer.
Seokjin cleared his throat, breaking Taehyung’s trance. "You were saying?" he asked, arching an eyebrow, but there was a slight blush on his cheeks.
Taehyung snapped out of his daze and scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. He looked at Seokjin and then at himself, making an exaggerated gesture of sipping coffee with his hands.
Seokjin shook his head with a small, exasperated smile. "Taehyung, I’m really busy here. You know I can’t just go running off for coffee every time you—"
Taehyung's lips curled into a pout, his eyes widening in an adorably exaggerated puppy face that melted Seokjin’s heart just a little. Seokjin tried to keep a straight face, resisting the urge to laugh and reach out to pinch Taehyung's cheeks.
In truth, Seokjin liked Taehyung. He felt his heart race every time Taehyung walked in, his presence lighting up the room with a warmth Seokjin hadn’t felt in years. But he was scared—terrified, really—of letting someone in again. His last relationship had left him scarred, insecure, and anxious, unsure if he could trust himself to open up without getting hurt. Taehyung was different, he knew that, yet the fear lingered.
Lost in thought, Seokjin realized the shop had gone silent. When he looked up, Taehyung was nowhere in sight. The flowers lay scattered on the counter, and Seokjin's heart sank. Maybe he finally got tired of my rejections, he thought, a pang of guilt settling in his chest.
He blinked, his eyes starting to tear up, but before he could dwell on his regret, he heard a slight cough from the other side of the counter. Leaning over, he found Taehyung on one knee, hands folded as if in prayer, a playful but determined look in his eyes.
"I'm not leaving today until you say yes, hyung," Taehyung declared, loud enough to echo in the tiny shop. "I don't care if I have to beg you for it."
Seokjin’s eyes widened, taken aback by the sincerity in Taehyung’s gaze. He could see the raw, hopeful emotion there, and it made his heart ache in the best way.
Taehyung looked up at him, unflinching. "Hyung, I know you’re scared. I don’t know what happened to you before, but please give me a chance to make you happy. I won’t let you down."
Something in Seokjin’s heart broke open, letting warmth spill in where fear had once been. Without thinking, he moved around the counter, pulling Taehyung up and wrapping his arms tightly around him. Taehyung didn’t hesitate, hugging him back with a quiet joy.
"Yes," Seokjin whispered, his voice thick with unshed tears. "Yes, I’ll go out with you."
Taehyung pulled back slightly, searching Seokjin's face as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. "Really? Yes?" he asked, his tone hopeful yet cautious.
Seokjin nodded, blinking as a tear slipped down his cheek. Taehyung’s thumb gently wiped it away before he leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to Seokjin’s forehead.
"Thank you, Seokjin," Taehyung whispered, his voice filled with relief and happiness. "I promise, I’ll make you the happiest man in the world."
Their moment was interrupted by a soft clap from the corner. Startled, they looked up to see Hoseok, the flower shop owner, watching them with a broad grin, his hands coming together in a slow, approving applause. "Finally!" he said, a playful sparkle in his eyes.
Seokjin and Taehyung blushed, sharing a shy, embarrassed laugh. Seokjin made a move to pull away, but Taehyung held him close, whispering in his ear, "I’m never letting you go, Jin."
In the quiet, flower-filled shop, surrounded by soft blooms and gentle sunlight, Seokjin felt a peace and happiness he hadn’t known in a long time. Taehyung was everything he needed and more, and in his arms, Seokjin knew he was exactly where he was meant to be.
