"Danielle Radclliff is -"
"Ugly!" Brett cut me off.
"No! He's not! He's cute!" I said.
"Blahblahblah. Girls have nothing else to talk about. If I know you didn't watch the movie at all. You just stared at whatshisname" he said, rolling his eyes.
"No, I didn't! I watched the whole movie."
"Yeah, yeah. Brett said as he rolled his eyes.
"Good morning class." Mrs. Martin walked in. We all went back to our places.
"Take out your homework and pass it forward." She said as she sat down.
I looked for my homework. I forgot where I placed it. Oh, right, it's in my textbook. Wait, where's my textbook? Oh no! Where did I put it? I know it was right here in my bag. I didn't leave it in my locker 'cause I brought it home to do my homework. Where is it?
"Is there a problem miss Richards?" Mrs. Martin stood in front of me. Her glasses reflecting the sun.
"Uh-um, n-nothing" I sat down properly.
"Then may I have your homework?" she held out her hand.
"Um, I-I lost it." I said , my voice shaking.
"Where exactly did you put it?" she asked. Her hands on her waist.
"It was in my textbook inside my bag. But I can't find it."
She told me with a very long face, "Well, you know what happens when you don't have homework in my class, and there are no excuses."
No, please don't. Not that, anything but that.
"I can't believe I got detention!" I walked rapidly towards the cafeteria.
"Now I know why everyone hates Mrs. Martin!" I said furiously.
"Hey, it's just detention." Brett said calmly.
"Just detention? Just detention?!" I said still furious.
"I never had detention in my entire life! What will my mother think?" I said as I sat down.
"I think your mother would be proud." He said as he sat across me.
"This is not time for jokes Brett, you have to help me!" I said shaking him.
"With what?" he took a bite of his apple.
"Help me get out of detention!" I grabbed his apple.
"That's impossible. Can I have my apple back?" I gave him back his apple.
"What if I found my textbook with my homework inside it?"
"Y-you-your textbook?" he asked shakily.
"Yes. Why? Is something wrong?" I asked him.
"Wha-what? N-nothing. Wh-why would you think that?" I raised my eyebrow at him. Of course!
"you know where it is, don't you?!" it spilled out of my mouth like thunder. He swallowed.
"Don't you?!" I shook his shoulders
"I didn't mean to do it. I didn't know your homework was in your textbook." He said as he tried to catch up with me.
"Then why didn't you tell Mrs. Martin that you stole my textbook?" I turned around to face him.
"I didn't steal it. I was going to give it back to you." he argued.
"Oh right. I forgot, you borrowed it without my permission!" I rolled my eyes at him. I'm so mad I could kill him.
"Look, I'll explain everything to Mrs. Martin." He sighed.
"It's too late for that now. She'll never believe you." I said.
"I'll make her believe me." He insisted.
"Why?" I asked him.
"Because you're mad and in detention and it's all my fault." He looked down.
"You don't have to." I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"You forgive me?" he asked and I nodded. He gave me a hug.
"I'm really sorry I got you in detention." He let go.
"Yeah, that's alright." I said.
"Can I have my book back?" he took it from his bag and gave it to me.
"Here."
