Author's note: had to do somethin special for chapter 13 :) also I assume this is how Taylor texts cause this is how my millennial ass texts too lol
I wake to sunlight coming in through the windows - mentally remembering to close the curtains next time - momentarily confused by the absence of Taylor's cats walking across my face. The phone next to me lights up, and my heart stops when I see the name.
Taylor: Hey babe❤️❤️❤️❤️
Taylor: So
Taylor: Tree told me where you are
Taylor: And I get it. I do. Sometimes you need space. Sometimes being cared about is scarier than being alone
Taylor: And I'm trying really hard to respect that and not freak out
Taylor: But I'm kind of freaking out
Taylor: A lot actually
Taylor: Meredith keeps sitting by your door and judging me for letting you leave
Taylor: Which is ridiculous because I was literally asleep
Taylor: But she has a point
I stare at the messages, something thick and painful lodging in my throat. I can picture her pacing in her studio, probably stress-writing another song, while Olivia gives her that look of feline disappointment.
Taylor: Also
Taylor: Please order breakfast
Taylor: The pancakes there are really good
Taylor: Like, life changingly good
Taylor: And I know you probably haven't eaten yet because you're weird about food when you're upset
Taylor: Which I totally get
Taylor: But also please eat something
My fingers hover over the keyboard. What do you say to someone who notices things like your weird food habits after just two days? Who texts you about her cat's judgment instead of guilt-tripping you about leaving?
Taylor: You don't have to respond
Taylor: Or come back
Taylor: Just... know that your room is still your room
Taylor: Even if you don't think it is
Taylor: And Meredith misses judging your life choices in person
I curl tighter around the phone, reading and rereading her messages. They're so... Taylor. Rambling and worried and caring without demanding anything in return.
Me: tell meredith she can judge me from a distance
The response is instant.
Taylor: SHE SAYS IT'S NOT THE SAME
Taylor: Actually she just yawned and walked away but I'm interpreting that as distress
Taylor: Did you order pancakes yet?
Taylor: I'm not nagging
Taylor: But also please eat something
I press my face into the ridiculous hotel pillows, fighting a smile I don't want to acknowledge.
Me: its like 1pm
Taylor: Perfect pancake time
Taylor: They do this thing with the syrup
