Author's note: Somethin cute before the drama ;)
"I'm not fuckin wearing that," I announce, staring at the monstrosity Tree laid out for me. It's some fancy designer dress, all flowy and impractical. "I'll look like a damn cupcake."
Taylor appears in the doorway, already dressed and perfect as always. "Language," she says automatically, then actually looks at the dress. "Oh. That's... interesting."
"Interesting? It's ridiculous!" I cross my arms. "I'm not wearing it. Tree's lost her mind. She's trying to get me back for calling her Trina."
Taylor sighs, sitting on the edge of my bed. "Baby, I know this brunch is making you nervous. But your aunts are going to love you, no matter what you wear."
I scoff. "Easy for you to say. You always look perfect." I poke at the dress like it might bite me. "I'll just wear jeans and a hoodie. That merch one."
"You mean the one you stole from me?" Taylor raises an eyebrow, fighting a smile.
"Borrowed," I correct. "Permanently."
She laughs, pulling me into a side hug. "How about a compromise? You wear the jeans, but with that nice blouse I got you last week. The blue one."
I consider it. The blouse is soft and not too fancy. "Fine. But I'm keeping the hoodie too."
"Of course you are." She kisses my temple. "Now get dressed. They'll be here soon."
I grumble but comply, secretly glad to have an outfit that feels more like me. The doorbell rings just as I'm putting the hoodie on.
"I'll get it!" Sabrina's voice echoes from the living room. Guess she arrived early.
I step out to find her in a dress fancier than Tree's pick for me, but somehow she makes it look effortless. "Sup, mini me," she grins. "Whoa, what happened to the cupcake dress?"
"Burned it," I deadpan. "Along with Tree's sense of style."
Sabrina cackles. "Probably for the best. Can you imagine trying to eat in that thing? You'd end up wearing more food than you ate."
I snort, relaxing a bit. Sabrina always knows how to break the tension.
The doorbell rings again and my stomach swoops. Taylor squeezes my shoulder. "Ready?"
"No," I mutter, but let her guide me to the door anyway.
I instantly squeezed to Taylor's side when I saw the two women. One was blonde and tall, and the other a stunning brunette and they looked like models. Hell, everyone I've met so far looked like a model. Even Trina.
The brunette gave me a gentle smile, "There's my new favorite niece!"
The blonde's eyes watered and she stretched out both of her arms. I pressed myself against Taylor even more.
Taylor put her hand on my back, "Hey guys, how about we just... go at a slow pace?" She looked down at me for confirmation. I nodded.
"Amateurs," Sabrina murmured from the chair nearby and winked at me. "Come on, mini me, let's go judge them."
Taylor coughed, "Before you do that, Mandy, honey that's Blake," the blonde gave an enthusiastic wave, "and that's Selena." The brunette gently smiled. "They're some of my closest friends."
"We heard so much about you,"Selena commented as we all moved to the dining room where brunch was ready.
I raised my eyebrow, "oh yeah? Did she tell you how I stole a Rolex once?"
