Benjamin's POV
I was able to make the shepherds pie and a chocolate cake for dessert. Gio was still at work, so I decided to take a shower and get the dining room ready.
"Hey, Leo?" I call, walking into the room, looking at the large table. "Do you want to eat with us?"
"No, that's-" He tried to argue.
"Leo." I crossed my arms. "I don't know when you eat, but there's plenty of food for you to join us."
He chuckles. "Alright, fine. You drive a hard bargain, Mr. Sierra."
"Please." I groan. "Just call me Benji. I hate that name." I look at him. "If you need to call me by a last name, just use Gio's. We're going to be married soon enough anyways."
"Alright, Benji." He chuckles again.
A loud bang echoes through the house. I jump, looking at Leo.
"Get under the table and stay there." He orders calmly. "I'll be back."
I dive under the table and watch him leave the room. I hear a series of bumps and thuds. Then a man I've never seen before enters the room, looking around. Eventually, he peeks under the table. I bolt out from underneath it, sprinting for the door.
"Not so fast, you little bitch." He growls, grabbing my arm. "You're coming with us."
"No, I'm not!" I scream. I thrash against his hold.
"Settle down!" He yells, hitting the back of my neck.
The last thing I see is Leo bursting in through the door and hitting the man.
I wake up in a bed. I panic for a moment, looking around the unfamiliar room. I don't find anything of use to tell me where I am, so I crawl under the bed, waiting until someone comes in so I can ask them what's happening.
After a few minutes, the door opens. I stay under the bed. I don't want to risk being found.
"Shit." I hear the person whisper. "Benji? Benji, where are you?" It's Gio. Gio's in the room.
I creep out from under the bed and look up at him.
"Oh, meno male." He breathes. "Come out, Benji. You're safe. We're at my friend Marco's house."
I crawl out completely and sit back on the bed. "Why are we at your friend's house?" I ask, looking at him.
"When I got home yesterday, Liam felt like something was off. So he went inside to check. He found a group of unknown men scattered around the house. You were in the dining room knocked out, and Leo was trying to bandage a wound on his arm he got from fighting them." He explained.
"Is Leo okay?" I ask, concerned for the butler that had taken care of me all day.
"Yes, he's okay." Gio smiles. "Declan came over to treat him."
"Do you know who the men were that came to the house?" I ask apprehensively.
"Well, fortunately, we were able to capture a couple of them alive." He chuckles darkly. "We can get some information out of them and find out who sent them."
"I'm sorry." I lower my head.
"Why are you sorry?" He grips my chin to make me look at him. "Did you call the men to the house? Did you tell them to break in and attack my staff? Did you tell them to knock you out?" He demands with a harsh voice.
"No." I say quietly.
"Then, why are you apologizing?" He releases my chin.
"I just... I can't help but think that without me, your house wouldn't have been attacked." I say quietly.
