No, Itachi can't do that. No one is that evil enough, right?
Naruto was sure Itachi wasn't lying. He could tell it was hard for him to open up; the way he acted, his emotions gave it away. But, he would have to ask him about the rumors of Izumi's death and his involvement in that.
The blond has strong instincts, really, he can tell when people mean well, when they lie and all those things. He never had anyone who observed him like how he observed others. No one to teach him, to guide him. He couldn't reach out to anyone simply because he didn't want them to be burdened by his problems.
Forget a therapist, he couldn't even figure out how to talk about the death of his parents without completely shutting down and going silent. Every time he remembered that gruesome sight of his parent's bodies disfigured by all the violence, his eyes would get teary. He was just 17. He didn't have to be the one to find his parents disfigured bodies lying in their family home, simply just because they were from different backgrounds.
It had been 2 years since the passing of his parents and still, he can't function properly with the same image replaying in his mind almost everyday. Every time Sasuke— or any of his friends visit their parents, he falls back into the same void. He missed his mom and dad and he would give his life to see them at least one last time. Maybe, that's why he wants to fix Sasuke's and Itachi's relationship, because they're family, and family is supposed to stick together.
"Where have you been? It's way past midnight." A voice broke him out of his thoughts. He looked up to find Sasuke holding a book in his hands.
"I— Uh, I went to get some fresh air." The blond mumbled as he closed the door behind him and walked into the kitchen, chugging a glass of water down. It wasn't his place to tell Itachi's story, so he kept his mouth shut, like always.
Sasuke watched him with an odd look. Was he overreacting or did something happen with Naruto? He has never been so quiet in the 12 years he's known him.
Just as the blond was about to go into his room, he felt his hand being held gently. "Naruto—" The blond tilted his head in surprise to look at Sasuke who froze as he realized what he was doing. "Uh...have you ate?" He quickly made up a lame question as he let go of the blonds hand.
"I'm not hungry." Naruto replied as he shook his head. He entered his room and just sat down on his bed. Still in his pjs, but he felt colder than usual. Staring out the window, he saw white flakes falling from the sky.
It started snowing? Since when? It was just October, though?
Huh? It was October already? He quickly pulled out his phone, reading the date.
October 9th.
The month he dreaded the most. How had he not noticed yet? Was Sasuke really taking that big of a toll in his life that he almost forgot the day of his parent's death?
He didn't realize when he had gotten teary eyed but at this moment, he couldn't care any less. Naruto didn't know how to feel, what to feel, how to cope. He didn't understand why the talk with Itachi was affecting him so deeply. Hell, he didn't even care about the two brothers until recently.
"Naruto?"
Naruto turned his head to where the voice came from. He quickly wiped his tears and spoke out. "C-Come in."
The door opened as Sasuke entered with a sigh. He came towards Naruto and took a seat, placing the plate in front of the blond. "You need to eat."
"I'm not hungry, I told you." Naruto argued with a slight attitude.
"For gods sake, Naruto, eat. You haven't eaten lunch either."
"Sasuke, seriously, I'm not hungry."
"Do I have to stuff this in your face?"
