"I got your email, it's not a problem." The raven spoke in a firm manner as he stuffed his clothes into a luggage. "Like I said, it's not a problem, just get me on the next flight." He zipped the bag before he looked around his room for anything that he could need. He hummed once more as he made his way into the kitchen. "I'll leave early morning then." The raven sighed as he opened the fridge, confirming the information before hanging up.
"You going somewhere?" A voice spoke out as he turned to the man. It was Naruto, completely soaked with a takeout container with spaghetti and meatballs in it. He looked lively, a grin plastered on his face and his big child-like eyes sparkling.
Sasuke sighed and shook his head at the sight before putting the milk down. "God, Naruto, you seriously need to rethink your life choices if you're going to live like this for the remainder of your life." Naruto chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Can I get you a towel?" The raven's exhausted expression came back with a sigh.
"Uhh—yeah, if you could!" He rubbed his neck as he devoured those noodles.
Sasuke came back with a towel and wrapped his around the blond's head, and started to dry it without a second thought before he paused, and remembered his promise to not overstep his boundaries. "Why are you eating soggy noddles? That's disgusting." Sasuke physically cringed as he grabbed the food and threw it in the trash.
"Hey—it wasn't disgusting! It just had a little rain water!" He pouted as Sasuke shook his head in disbelief.
"I'll be gone for a few weeks," Sasuke explained as he poured himself a glass of milk while the other man leaned on the dining table, with a visible frown. "Here's the key. Go ahead, ask for a different roommate, or do whatever the hell you want with it." He spoke with a cold voice.
Naruto widened his eyes, wondering if he heard right. "What do you mean ask for a different roommate? You're coming back, right?" Naruto asked as he was genuinely upset.
"I don't know."
Naruto sighed as he put the key down on the counter. "And here I thought we were starting to get along! But clearly, we were not. And—" He paused before throwing the towel on his head down. "You know what, fine, do what you want." He got up and made his way into his room.
Sasuke mentally cursed himself out. Maybe he should've taken a different approach, he really didn't mean to upset Naruto. He just wanted to give Naruto a way out before he really started to involve himself with the blond.
Sasuke again, ended up chasing after Naruto to explain further. He knocked on the door, not expecting him to open the door at all. But, of course, he was wrong. "Naruto—I didn't mean it like that. I...just thought you would like it better to stay with someone else—"
"I've had a rough day and your stupidity is making it even worse, you bastard!" Naruto wrapped his arms around Sasuke's shoulders, making Sasuke's ears heat up. "Why would I want to stay with someone other than you? Especially after you've been so nice to me and even took care of me!" Sasuke gave a small smile, placing his arms around the blond's waist so lightly that Naruto almost didn't even feel them. "You even went as far as protecting me and standing up to your demonic brother! You think that's something anyone else would do for me?"
Sasuke chuckled as his body pressed against the blond. "Tch, like I'd let anyone else- especially someone like Itachi, take care of you," Sasuke muttered, tightening his hold just slightly. "You're my problem, Naruto. No one else needs to—" Sasuke paused. Did those words just come out of his mouth?
"If I didn't know any better, or maybe I'm just slow, but that sounded more intimate than you probably intended." Naruto remarked with a chuckle.
"No, that's exactly what I meant, dumbass." Sasuke's hold on the blond tightened, squeezing him. He had given up on trying to fix his mistake, and since this was probably their last encounter, he certainly couldn't care less if his feelings weren't returned. Once he was gone, he wouldn't have time to sulk over the rejection that he was going to face.
"I'm your problem? How so!? I don't cause any trouble!" Naruto gave a puzzled look, still in Sasuke's tight embrace but he had a little smile on his face.
"Just shut up for a minute, will you?" Sasuke rested his head on Naruto's shoulder, his nose touching Naruto's neck.
The two stood there in comfortable silence, not speaking a word to each other. Naruto rubbed Sasuke's back, in a soothing manner.
"You okay, Sasuke?" He whispered. "Are you mad at me?" He asked in a soft tone. Sasuke shook his head. And Naruto took that as a sign to stay quiet and not pull away until Sasuke did so first.
After another minute of silence. Sasuke took a deep breath, inhaling Naruto's scent. "Will you wait for me?" He waited for an answer, but only heard sobs coming from the blond. He tried pulled away, thinking he had messed up. But Naruto refused to let go. "N-Naruto? What's wrong?"
"You jerk, why do you always make me so emotional at such times? I really resent you for that, I think...okay fine, maybe not resent. But I still don't like you, stupid idiot! You know I'm having a rough day and I've already cried a bunch and you're acting like a sad neglected cat...so I think that's why I must be crying. Of course, I'll wait for you! God—this must look ridiculous, like a wife sending away her husband to fight a war or something. Maybe that wasn't a good example, sorry am I talking too much? I get really talkative whenever I'm sad—"
"Naruto!" Sasuke pulled away as he got a good look at the crying mess of his idiotic blond. "Stop talking, dobe." He shook his head as he wiped away the tears from his face. "For your information, I am not a sad neglected cat—and neither am I going to fight in a war." Naruto chuckled, followed by a sniff. "What do you mean that you've cried a bunch? What happened?"
"Oh it's nothing, I always get emotional during fall-winter. For example, I was crossing the road and I came across a sad little puppy without any food. So, I took it to the rescue shelter and they were in the middle of euthanizing puppies, and I felt so sad, I couldn't help but want to adopt all of those cute little puppies—but we aren't allowed to bring pets on campus!"
Sasuke stared at the blond in disbelief, had Naruto always been this emotional? He hadn't remembered the blond crying ever. Whatever it was, Sasuke kind of liked it—not that he was some kind of sadist who liked seeing people cry, but he was happy that Naruto felt comfortable enough to express his emotions to him.
"Had I known you were going to be a crying mess, I would've canceled the meeting." Sasuke sighed as he was pulled into an another hug by the blond.
"Really? You would do that for me?" Naruto beamed his big smile as he let go, staring into Sasuke's eyes with pure joy.
"If you asked." Sasuke looked back at the ocean-like eyes that were filled with warmth and excitement.
"But, why?"
And all of a sudden, Sasuke felt a lump in his throat. Okay, he may have not been as confident as he had thought.
"I-I don't know, it's just... whenever I'm with you, there's this feeling, like this warmth I can't explain. It's like I can finally breathe, and I don't want it to stop. What I'm trying to say is... I think I like y—" A sudden knock on the door cut Sasuke off, and he froze mid-sentence. He clenched his jaw, annoyed, as the moment he was building up, completely slipped away.
"Otouto! It's me, I got you a cake—" A voice yelled through the door.
"Damn you, Itachi." Sasuke muttered under his breath.
Naruto wholeheartedly laughed at Sasuke's attempt to make a move. A slight tint of red on his cheeks, "I get what you were trying to say, and I think feel the same way about you, Sasuke-" Naruto, too, was interrupted. He gave a small smile with flushed cheeks before bursting into laughter
"It's going to melt, and I have no desire to eat a melted ice cream cake!"
"For fucks sake, Itachi! Wait a minute, will you!?"
Naruto giggled as Sasuke rushed to open the door.
