I was sitting next to Camila, lost in thought, when someone knocked on the door. I got up, hoping it would be her mom, dad, or sister, but instead, it was a guy I didn't recognize.

"Umm, hello, I'm Justin," he said, introducing himself with a casual tone that didn't match the heaviness in the room.

"Justin? Oh, you're that Justin—the one they were talking about," I replied, a mix of curiosity and suspicion rising in my chest.

"I'm here to take you and her back to Barcelona," he said, sounding too nonchalant for my liking.

"Why didn't her family come?" I asked, my brow furrowing.

"They couldn't get out of work. They asked me to," he explained. Then, with a slight smirk, he added, "So how do you know Camila?"

"I, um, am her roommate," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral despite the growing tension.

"Are you two dating?" he asked, his curiosity almost intrusive.

"No, just family," I replied, feeling defensive. "And why are you here? I thought Pedri would be here."

"Why would he be here?" I countered, raising an eyebrow.

"Because they're dating, right?" The words slipped out before he could stop them, my mind racing. How could he ask me if Camila and I were dating and then imply she and Pedri were?

"Umm, I don't think they are. He would've told me," I said, trying to sound more confident than I felt.

"But I saw them at dinner one night," he shot back.

"Yeah, friendly dinners. We do that," I replied, my irritation bubbling to the surface.

"Okay, whatever," he said, shaking his head as he started signing the papers for us to leave. I hurriedly packed up her things, my mind racing with thoughts I couldn't shake.

Ever since I tore my ACL, Camila had been there for me through every step of my recovery—supporting me after surgery, encouraging me to get back to training. Now, it was my turn to be there for her until she woke up. But this Justin guy? I didn't like him. The other boys talked about him, and it wasn't in a nice way. I couldn't shake the feeling that Camila wouldn't like him either. So why was he here, picking her up to take her back to Barcelona? What was he doing here if they didn't like him?

I couldn't let him take charge. I'd figure it out once we got to Barcelona, right? I kept telling myself that if Camila were really dating Pedri, he would've told me. But I had to keep that thought to myself for now.

Justin came back into the room, breaking my train of thought. "We're ready to go," he said, his tone still too casual for the situation.

I glanced outside and saw the medical plane waiting for us. It was designed to carry patients comfortably, and I felt a strange mix of relief and apprehension. We got on board, and as we prepared for the journey back to Barcelona, I couldn't shake the feeling of dread. I hoped Camila would be awake by the time we arrived.

We were about to arrive when Ferran called.

**Sharkboy 🦈 is calling.**

I answered, "Hello? Hello, Ferran?"

"Hey, Gavi! I just wanted to know if you're ready to land."

"Yeah, we've got about 15 minutes left. Are you already at the hospital?"

"Yes, we're here. Is her mom with you?"

"No, her parents couldn't come. Sophia couldn't make it either."

"Then who are you with?"

"Justin."

"Justin?" Ferran's voice grew tense. "What are you doing with Justin?"

I hesitated, feeling a knot tighten in my stomach. "He said that her family sent him to pick us up."

"Gavi, You need to get him away from her now."

"Okay, I'll try my best. But wait—what exactly is he to her? What's their history?" I asked, hoping Ferran would provide some clarity.

There was a pause on the other end. "He's her ex, Gavi. They had a pretty messy breakup. I thought you knew."

"No, I didn't. I thought they were just friends. Why would he be here picking her up if they're not together?"

"Exactly. That's what worries me. Camila might not want him around, especially now."

"Do you think she still has feelings for him?" I felt a surge of protectiveness well up inside me.

"I don't know, man. Just be careful. If he tries anything, you need to look out for her."

"Got it. I'll keep my eye on him. Thanks, hermano."

"Just be safe. Call me if anything happens," Ferran said before hanging up.

I took a deep breath, my heart racing. I couldn't shake the feeling that Justin's presence could complicate everything. I glanced over at Camila, still unconscious, and felt a pang of determination. I would protect her, no matter what.
