Pt 13

I finally made it back to the cut after the long walk from the Cameron's, I opened the front door of the chateau and walked in, "John b!" I shouted, I knew he was home as the Twinkie was parked in the front,

I walked around calling his name for another minute still no sing of him, quickly I went into my room and got changed into something cozier.

I put a pair of low raised pink and white striped baggy shorts on and a white tang top with a white bikini underneath,

I walked out the chateau and noticed JJ and pope on the dock, I began running over,

"Hey guys!" I shouted, JJ turned his head, his whole face lit up when he saw me "Meg!" He shouted back and Pope turned,

I slowed down and met the two at the end of the dock, JJ gazed upon me with a smile, "you have fun at Taylor's?" He asked me as his arm reached around my shoulder, "uh, yes, great time with, Taylor" I said stuttering on almost every word as I'm a shit liar, popes face turned confused, he could definitely tell something was weird but he never spoke up,

I looked down to the computer looking thing Pope was using, "em, what's that" I asked looking at it,

"It's like a drone" Jj told me as he lifted his arm away from me and tried to press a button on it, Pope slapped his hand away "don't touch" he said and then turned to me "it's technically not a drone, it's a ROV" he told me, I looked at him "okay what's that?" I scoffed a little,

"It's basically like a underwater drone" JJ spoke right before pope was going to, "okay and what do we need it for" I asked,

Pope gazed at me and stepped up, "we are going to try find the Royal Merchant gold with it" he began smiling,

I had completely forgotten that my father told us he found it and gave us a map to where it would be, if we found it and the gold that was supposed to be on it when it sunk, we would be rich, we would become Kooks, and I honestly don't know what to think of that, I simply replied to pope with a nod and noticed John b and kiara pls heads pop out of the water,

"Hey, once we get footage of the wreck, we'll bring it to a lawyer in town and file a formal claim" John b said as he swam to the ladder, "it's such bullshit. Why do we have to do that?" JJ spoke, I turned to him and pope "well, there is maritime salvage law. You can't just go to the ocean floor and scoop a bunch of stuff up." He told JJ,

"I know I know" JJ responded and sounded quite frustrated, "lawyers aren't cheap" I spoke,

John b looked up and saw me "Meg!" He smiled as he climbed up, "hey" I smiled back, I looked down at kiara who was climbing up the ladder after John b, I walked over and reached my hand out to help her up, "thanks" she smiled.

Pope leaned over the railing of the dock, "this tether is, like, really long. In the wrong weather it could get pushed around." He spoke,

"Then we'll go at dead calm" John b answered him as he stood behind me dripping wet,

I slightly jumped at a loud bang of thunder, "so now, we just gotta wait around for the right weather" pope said after the thunder,

"And today is not that day" I spoke looking up at the sky to see dark clouds forming in closer and closer.

Later that day me and John b sat outside with each other, he had the map out fathers gave us and he was inspecting it like he was gonna find something else on it,

I sat comfortably in the corner of a seat with a small book in my hand as I heard footsteps behind us,

I looked up and saw, Sarah, Sarah Cameron, what was she doing here at the, chateau.

"Hey Megan" she smiled, I looked at her "hey Sarah?" I said a bit confused and John b looked up,

"It's your turn" she said as she stopped right in front of John b, I just looked at the two but didn't say anything, "uh, for what?" John b said looking as confused as I was,

"To ask me what I'm doing here" she told him, "what are you doing here?" John b replied slowly,

"I realised I didn't get the chance to respond the other day after you spat in my face and yelled at me, and you stormed off like a child. So, first of all, I'm not a liar. I don't know how ward found out about the scuba gear, but I swear it was not me. I'm not the reason you got fired" she told him, it made me laugh slightly as she just stormed over here to give out to him, have to love her for that,

"Okay" John b responded,

Sarah looked at me with a smile and then back to my brother, she shrugged a shoulder "that's all, good talk" she began walking off,

John b watched her still with a confused look on his face, "oh" she said as she started looking through her bag she carried around her shoulder, "your favourite" she said as she threw a packet of crisps at him,

"Bye Megan" she said to me, I waved her off "bye Sarah!" I spoke back and she left.

"What the hell" John b said shaking his head, I looked at him "she's great" I spoke with a little laugh.

The rest of the day dragged on slowly,

John b and Kiara went surfing, I would've joined them but I honestly wasn't in the mood to surf, Pope and JJ went to do errands for Hayward, Popes dad.

It was sun set and we all sat outside on the hammocks me and John b put up a couple weeks ago,

"You really think it's out there? Like, no bulshit" Pope asked us all, I honestly don't know why I really believed it was going to be, my dad lost his life looking for it, there was no way he would've went out there if it wasn't there,

"Our father thought it was." I responded as no one else did,

"But do you?" Pope asked,

I sat there looking at him as I was on the same hammock just sitting across from him, "after hearing his voice on that tape, I think I do" I told him, I could feel John bs eyes on me the second I spoke, I turned to him and he just sat there staring, I really wanted to know what he was thinking in that moment but there was no possible way I could know,

"Only one way to find out" John b spoke from the other hammock,

"Look, we're gonna find it, you know? Even JJ believes" kiara spoke, "oh my god, JJ, do you really believe?" John b responded sarcastically,

"Totally. Wait, are we talking four mil?" JJ asked,

"Four hundred mil" we all said in unison,

"Jinx" me and kiara said at the same time and started laughing,

"I'm gonna dream about ship wrecks" JJ laid back down,

"Goodnight, bird and book!" He joked, I rolled my eyes with a huff, "goodnight , bird shit and book worm" he added on and stuck the middle finger up at us,

Everyone went silent as they all zoned out and fell asleep, I laid there quietly just looking into the pure abyss,

Slowly my eyes began closing and I was soon fast asleep.
