Prologue: The Stars That Bind
The library had always been her refuge, a quiet haven where the world beyond its walls seemed distant, almost unreal. The scent of old paper and the hum of silence wrapped around her like a comforting cloak. Among the dusty shelves filled with forgotten stories, Isuna Hoshizora sought something more—a place to escape, a glimpse into lives and worlds she would never know.
Her fingers danced over the spines of countless books, each one calling to her with silent promises of adventure, of knowledge. But none beckoned her quite like the book she discovered tucked away in the farthest corner of the library, almost as if it had been waiting for her.
It was small, the cover a deep indigo that shimmered faintly in the dim light, as though it held the very essence of the night sky. Etched in silver characters, the title read The Universe of the Four Gods. The words seemed strange yet oddly familiar, as if they'd been etched into her soul long ago.
Without thinking, she opened it.
The pages crackled under her fingertips, each word speaking not just to her mind but to her very being. The language was foreign, but somehow, she understood it. Her heart quickened, as if the book were pulling her in, coaxing her deeper into its secrets.
A low hum filled the air, growing louder with each passing second, until it became a deafening roar. The room around her began to dissolve, the once-familiar shelves and walls blurring into a whirl of light and shadow. Isuna gasped, her hand clutching the book tighter as the world around her shifted.
The ground vanished beneath her feet. She screamed, but her voice was swallowed by the wind that began to howl around her. Her body was weightless, as though the very laws of reality had abandoned her.
And then, with a jarring force, everything stopped.
Isuna’s knees hit the ground as the world snapped back into focus. She blinked, disoriented, the ground beneath her warm and uneven. She could smell the acrid scent of smoke and the metallic tang of blood in the air. Above her, the sky was a swirl of red and gold, as if the sun itself was bruised by the battles raging beneath it.
And before her, a man stood, his silhouette a dark contrast against the blazing horizon. His presence was overwhelming, as though the very air around him held a weight she could not comprehend. His eyes, sharp and calculating, locked onto hers, and a chill ran down her spine.
"Who are you?" His voice was cold, measured, and filled with an authority that left no room for hesitation.
Isuna’s heart pounded in her chest. This wasn’t her world. This wasn’t her life. She had been pulled into something far beyond her understanding.
But the book had chosen her. And the stars above her seemed to whisper, there is no turning back now.
The man before her took a step forward, his eyes narrowing, as if calculating her every move.
"I am Nakago," he said, his gaze piercing. "And you, whether you wish it or not, are now a part of my world."
The winds picked up again, whipping around her as if the very earth itself was alive with the tension of a long-forgotten war.
Isuna swallowed hard, the weight of her situation sinking in. In this world of gods, warriors, and ancient powers, she was no longer just a bystander. She was something more. But what? And at what cost?
As Nakago’s gaze held hers, something deep inside Isuna stirred. She couldn’t explain it, but she knew—this was only the beginning. The fates had already woven her into this world, and now, there was no escaping the pull of destiny.
And so, with nothing but the weight of an unfamiliar future pressing down on her, Isuna Hoshizora took her first step into a world where love, power, and betrayal would intertwine—and where the stars themselves might hold the key to her very survival.
