Nakago's piercing blue eyes shifted from Miaka to the Emperor. "Your Majesty, there can be no mistake. This girl, Miaka, is indeed the Priestess of Suzaku."
The Emperor's face hardened as he processed the information, his gaze cold as it fell upon Miaka. Without hesitation, he gave the order, "Arrest her at once."
Miaka's heart raced. She took a step back, her mind scrambling for a way out as guards began to close in around her. But before they could act, a loud commotion echoed down the halls-news of intruders. The guards glanced at each other, momentarily distracted, giving Miaka and Yui the opportunity they needed.
"Now's our chance!" Miaka whispered, grabbing Yui's hand.
They slipped out of the grand hall, racing through the palace corridors until they found an old storage room hidden at the far end of a quiet hallway. Slipping inside, they closed the door and leaned against it, catching their breath.
"Are you alright?" Miaka asked, studying Yui's face.
Yui nodded, but Miaka noticed a faint scar on her friend's wrist. She reached out, concern in her eyes. "Yui... what happened? This scar-"
Yui quickly pulled her wrist away, avoiding Miaka's gaze. "It's nothing," she said softly, her tone evasive. "Just... something that happened when I first arrived here."
Miaka's heart tightened at her friend's dismissive tone, but she didn't press further. Instead, she wrapped her arms around Yui, silently promising herself to protect her no matter what.
Outside the palace, Tamahome was engaged in a fierce battle with the Kutou soldiers, skillfully deflecting their attacks. His eyes darted around, searching desperately for any sign of Miaka. Just then, Nakago appeared, his face as cold and calm as ever.
"Nakago!" Tamahome shouted, charging forward, but Nakago merely raised a hand, effortlessly deflecting the attack and sending Tamahome sprawling to the ground.
Chichiri, who had been following from the shadows, stepped forward. "Tamahome, get away from here. I'll hold him off," he said, casting a freezing spell to momentarily immobilize Nakago.
The spell gave Tamahome just enough time to slip past Nakago and make his way into the palace. However, Nakago, with a steely glare, broke free from the spell almost immediately, his power far beyond what either Tamahome or Chichiri had anticipated.

Back inside the storage room, Miaka's mind suddenly froze with realization. "The Universe of the Four Gods-Nakago still has it!" Her face paled as she thought of the implications. "If he knows I'm the Priestess of Suzaku, he might use the book against us... or worse, against Isuna."
At the mention of Isuna, Yui's face softened. She squeezed Miaka's hand, worry and longing flashing in her eyes. "We have to get the book back," Yui whispered. "For you, and for Isuna. We can't let Nakago control any of this."
Just then, the door creaked open. A soldier spotted them, his eyes widening in alarm, but before he could react, Tamahome appeared, swiftly taking him down.
"Miaka!" he called, his voice both relieved and stern. "Are you alright?"
Miaka smiled faintly, nodding as she took his hand. "Thank you, Tamahome." Yui moved to stand beside them, her gaze lingering on the doorway.
But then, her expression hardened with determination. "Wait here," she said, slipping out of the room before either Miaka or Tamahome could stop her. "I'll get the scroll back from Nakago."
Miaka and Tamahome shared a glance of concern, but there was no stopping Yui once she'd set her mind on something. They waited in tense silence as minutes ticked by. Finally, Yui returned, holding the scarlet scroll close to her chest. Relief washed over her as she looked at Miaka, a genuine smile lighting up her face.
"I got it. Now we can go back to Konan together," Yui said, her voice full of hope. "We can both go back... and you'll have Isuna by your side too."
As they began to move toward the exit, Nakago appeared in the hall, blocking their path. Yui tensed, gripping the scroll tightly as he approached, his gaze piercing and unreadable.
"Are you really going with Miaka, Yui?" he asked, his voice smooth and cold. "Do you really think she cares as much for you as you do for her?"
Yui flinched as he reached for her scarred wrist, his grip firm but unyielding. "Remember what happened to you here," he whispered, his voice dangerously low. "Do you really believe things will be different?"
Yui's eyes filled with confusion, but she pulled her hand free, her resolve hardening. "I'm going with Miaka," she replied firmly.
Nakago watched her, an unreadable expression in his eyes, before releasing his grip on her wrist. "Very well," he said, allowing them to pass.

Back inside the room, Tamahome turned to Miaka, his expression a mixture of frustration and relief. "Why did you leave me behind, Miaka?" he asked, his tone soft but laced with worry.
Miaka's eyes softened as she looked at him, guilt flickering in her gaze. "Tamahome... this was between me and Yui. I had to do this for her."
Tamahome shook his head, stepping closer. "You don't have to do everything alone, Miaka," he said, his voice barely a whisper. Before she could respond, he leaned in, his lips brushing hers in a gentle, heartfelt kiss.
"I love you, Miaka," he murmured, his words echoing through the room.
Miaka's heart fluttered as she looked up at him, her face warm with emotion. She had come all this way to find her friends, to protect Isuna, and now she realized that no matter the trials ahead, they would face them together.
