The team's headquarters hummed with the usual activity, but tonight there was a certain quietness. Most of the team was either taking some downtime or planning the next moves, leaving Scarlett and Violace in an almost eerie silence in the corner of the room.
Scarlett, still getting used to this whole new world of Foxanians and Terrabeasts, found herself restless. The bright pink of her kitsune tails swished as she nervously fiddled with the sleeve of her jacket. Even though the team had accepted her, she still wasn't sure where she fit in all of this.
Violace, on the other hand, seemed perfectly calm. His stoic expression gave nothing away as he leaned back in his chair, his fox-like ears twitching slightly with each movement. He had always been the type to observe, to remain detached unless absolutely necessary. Tonight, however, he felt the need to say something.
"So, how are you holding up?" Violace's voice broke the silence, his tone surprisingly softer than usual.
Scarlett glanced at him, catching the hint of genuine concern in his eyes. She didn't expect that from someone who had always kept to himself, someone who exuded an almost untouchable confidence.
"I'm fine, I guess," she replied, her voice hesitant. "But this whole... Foxanian thing, it's a lot to process, you know? I've been part of the team for a while now, but I still don't know what my place is."
Violace let out a soft chuckle, leaning forward slightly. "You're not the first one to feel that way. Believe me, when I first joined, I didn't know if I was going to fit in either." His eyes softened with a rare kind of sincerity. "But that's the thing about this team — you don't have to fit in. You just have to be yourself. That's enough."
Scarlett wasn't sure if he was trying to reassure her or if he actually believed what he was saying. Either way, it seemed to calm her down a little.
"I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this, you know?" she said, a bit more openly now. "I mean, you and Violett — both of you are Foxanians, but I'm a Terrabeast. I've never really fit anywhere before."
Violace's gaze shifted, his smirk flickering. "Well, it's not about fitting in, Scarlett. We don't live by some rulebook. Some of us are Foxanians, some are Terrabeasts, but at the end of the day, it's our strengths and flaws that make us a team. Violett and I may be Foxanians, but we still have a place here because we're part of something bigger. You're part of that too."
Scarlett gave a small, thoughtful nod, her pink tails swishing in sync with her thoughts. "Yeah... I guess you're right. But sometimes I feel like everyone else is so much more powerful. Like, you and Violett, you guys have a purpose. And then there's me... I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing here."
Violace leaned back, tapping his fingers on the arm of his chair. "You're doing what you can, and that's all we can ask for. And trust me, you're more capable than you give yourself credit for. Hell, you might just surprise yourself."
Scarlett met his gaze, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "You really think so?"
"I don't just think so, I know so," Violace said, his voice firm and confident. "We've all been where you are. But the fact that you're here, that you're still pushing forward, shows a hell of a lot more than you realize."
A quiet silence settled between them, both of them lost in their own thoughts. For a moment, Scarlett felt a bit lighter, like she was beginning to understand her place in the world — or at least, in this team.
Violace broke the silence with a smirk. "You've got this, kid. You just have to trust yourself more."
Scarlett smiled slightly, feeling something shift inside her. "Alright, I'll try. I'll show you what I've got."
Violace stood up, stretching his arms. "That's the spirit. Now, let's see if you can keep up with me."
Scarlett laughed under her breath. "I can do that."
As the two of them stood together, ready to face whatever was next, Scarlett felt a bit more sure of herself. She wasn't just some newbie anymore. She was a part of something, and she had a place here — even if she didn't always know what that was.
As they walked out of the room together, the bond between them grew a little stronger. Scarlett didn't know exactly where the future would take her, but with Violace's unexpected support, she was ready to face whatever came next.
She wasn't alone. Not anymore.
