Serene's POV

It was just another ordinary day for me—busy and filled with meetings at work. I wrapped up my tasks, feeling a sense of accomplishment as I closed my laptop.

My parents had invited me to dinner at Aki's family mansion, and while I had mixed feelings about going, I didn't want to disappoint them.

They had maintained their friendship with Aki's family, and I often heard about their gatherings.

I'm not going to lie, living for three years without Aki by my side was the worst feeling ever.

I have never once heard of her during those times.

Three years ago, when I found out about her illness, I never stopped looking for her.

Even her parents don't know about her location, but they did tell me that they still talk to Aki.

I badly wanted to talk to her, I was so desperate to the point that I begged her parents to let me talk to her, but they said I should give her some time. She'll come around.

So I did.

Even though it hurt me, I continued living my life.

I pursued law while also studying about business just so I could help my family in managing ours.

And now, I'm a successful lawyer and a CEO.

This is all because of her.

It's all because of my Aki.

I wanted her to know that I am more than capable of taking care of her and I wanted her to be proud of me.

I wanted her to see me being okay when she comes back.

That's if she will.

Will she?

I carefully parked my car outside their mansion and before going in, I saw my parents car, even Richie's.

When I found no one in the living room, I softly called her parents and proceeded to their dining room.

"Tita mommy!, tito dad! I'm here." I smiled while saying but immediately stopped when I saw a familiar back that I have been longing for so long now.

I can't be mistaken.

It was her.

Then she looked at me, that's when my world suddenly came back.

She looks so fine.

She looks so gorgeous and handsome at the same time.

I don't know if it's just my illusions but I saw her lips murmuring my name and so I did the same.

"Aki..." I whispered with a soft voice.

I badly wanted to run to her but suddenly, I couldn't find any courage to do that.

We were just staring at each other until we heard someone clearing his throat.

"Ahem, princess, won't you greet your parents and your tito and tita, first?" my dad said.

That's the only time I got out of my senses. I then went to my parents and greeted them as well as Aki's parents.

When I saw that the only seat available was beside Aki, I hesitated to sit down. She must have noticed it because she said, "You can take your seat beside me."

Fuck it.

I missed that voice!

"Uhmm, okay. Thanks." I whispered shyly.
