Chapter 22

Serene's POV

The next morning, I woke up with a mix of excitement and nerves bubbling inside me. Today was the day I would finally start to see Aki everyday.

Last night, I slept so well despite a stressful day, all because of that one simple message from her. To others, I might be exaggerating but it means a lot to me.

At least, she somehow still cares for me.

I was vibing with my favorite song, playing in my car while driving. It's going to be very hard for me to have three jobs at the same time, but for Aki, I will manage.

I already sorted my schedule. I'll make my job as her company's legal counsel a priority and I would still accept criminal cases but it will be lessened of course.

As for my position as a CEO, I would still go to our company from time to time and if my presence is needed. My secretary will update me everyday, though.

Did I already mention that little did Aki know, my office is going to be beside hers.

Yes, I may have secretly asked her parents to do it.

I smirked with that thought, poor Aki, for sure her head is going to ache more frequently than before, because I'll make sure to bother her every chance that I'll get.

Her parents offered me a secretary but I told them it's okay since my secretary from the firm that I'm working for will be with me at their company.

Speaking of my secretary, "Hello Atty.? I'm already here in the lobby. I'll just wait for you here." she said when she called me.

"Okay Kim, thank you. I'm already near, don't worry."

"Take care, Ms.!"

Like I said, I'm already near Aki's company so not long after, I'm now with Kim.

"Hello, I'm Kim. Atty. Montefalco's secretary, and this is Atty. Serene Montefalco. We're here to see the CEO." Kim said to the receptionist.

"Oh, good morning Atty., and good morning Ms. Kim. The CEO is already waiting in her office. Just proceed to the 58th floor. I'll inform her secretary that you're on your way upstairs." the woman answered.

"Thank you." This time, I was the one who answered back since I can't wait to see her.

We then rode the elevator.

When the elevator stopped and opened on her floor, everyone was looking at us like a mystery.

I see some familiar faces from before since I used to visit here also when Aki was also managing their company three years ago. There were also a lot of new faces.

A woman came to us, I assumed she was Aki's new secretary.

"Atty. Montefalco? I'm Iya. Ms. Alcantara's secretary." She offered me her hand.

I just stared at her, not really liking her vibes. Not to be judgemental but she looks like someone who will seduce my Aki. Tsk.

When she sensed that I had no intention to greet her back, she cleared her throat.

"Uhm, this way please. Ms. Zyd is still talking to someone so you can sit here and wait."

I just nodded at her and sat on the chair. Kim did the same.

I was scrolling through my cellphone when suddenly we heard Aki, shouting from her office. She was scolding whoever she was talking to.

"Then why didn't you report it to my parents immediately?! You waited for so long to get this big! Are you dumb?!" her voice screams anger.
