Serene's POV

It's been a week since I started my job here in Aki's company. We managed to smoothly resolve the past issue about the money that has been losing.

Unfortunately, the people who were behind that scheme were one of their competitors in business.

It wasn't easy for us to find out about it, though. It took us almost three days, but thankfully, we did it.

During that whole week, I never failed to bother Aki, every day. I always make sure that my presence is known to her.

Every day, I would always barge in her office and force her to eat with me, and if I'm too busy with my work, I will just order some food for her and tell my secretary to personally deliver it to her.

Of course, it's not just food. I have also been giving flowers to her.

Sadly, there's still no change in her treatment towards me. She's still so distant and cold.

I could only be grateful that at least she's letting me do those things. I'm not rushing it anyways, when I decided to pursue her, I perfectly knew what I'm getting myself into.

Like I told you, there are days that my work is a hindrance to my plans for Aki and I, and today, it's the same thing.

I put my phone down after reading and blocking a text message. I massaged my head which has been aching these past few days.

"Be careful. I'm watching you."

"You should know your place attorney."

"If I were you, I would drop the case this instant or else I will kill you."

"Stop playing the hero card, you might get yourself in danger."

Those are just some of the text messages that I have been receiving when I accepted a big case.

Four days ago, there was a woman who came to me, seeking my help. It was another case of frame, but this time, it was bigger.

According to the woman, she was being framed for killing her own family.

She was working as a waitress at a bar, but she recently found out about the dark secret of that bar. Unfortunately, the bar was doing illegal drugs and human trafficking.

That is why she tried to take it to the authorities but instead of believing in her, she got fired immediately.

She didn't stop though. She tried and tried to reveal the truth, only to end up having her family killed. Her husband and her child were killed in their own house, and the police believe that she was the one behind it.

When I heard about that, I didn't hesitate to help her. And now, I was being blackmailed and I have been receiving death threats.

This case was bigger than I thought. No one knew about this. Not even my family. I don't want them to be worried.

I admit, I'm scared, but I can't just let the woman be jailed for a crime she didn't commit. She deserves justice, and I'll make sure to give her that.

I was pulled out from my reverie when I heard a knock on my door.

"Excuse me, attorney. Your food is here." Kim said.

"Thank you, Kim." I answered and got up from my seat to take the food.
