Her heart rate slowed in his ears, her breath coming slowly like it had for the last hour, but he could feel her eyes fluttering as she fought against the urge to sleep.
"Come on Melony, stay with me." Damon voice came out slow. He swallowed his saliva, trying to get rid of the burning sensation in his throat. "Talk to me, okay. Just talk to me. Tell me about anything you want, but just talk." Damon started to cough.
"My mom is happy." Melony said. Damon raised an eyebrow, confused.
"Yeah, I know." He said.
"No, I mean she's really happy. I haven't seen her smile so big since forever really." Melony smiled. "I mean, when she met Aiden she was already in a bad place, and he got her out. She was smiling again. But then, things took a turn for the worst and he slowly started to shove her back in that hole again. And one day, he complexity lost it and she was no longer just in a bad place, she was drowning in pain and no one knew but me." Melony said as she stared off into nothing, her eyes glazed over. "And then she saw Stiles again, and it was like God came down himself and saved her. He's making her come out the tunnel and filling it in so she can never go back. And for once in my life, I can say she's happy. I can say she made it." She said quietly. Damon listened closely, her breath was starting to get shallow.
"Melony," Damon called out.
"Everything's closing in," Melony whispered.
"Melony, stay with me, talk to me, our parents are coming soon." Damon started to shout, weakly pulling himself to the door.
"Tell my mom," Melony coughed, "tell her I love her...that she'll be fine."
"Melony!" Damon started to rattle the cell door. "Melony," he shouted, starting to panic as he heard her heart rate start to slow down. "Kira!" Damon shouted. "Kira, please! Please help her, I'm begging you!" Damon started to shout at the top of his lungs. After a moment of panic, he realized it was useless. A feeling of frustration took over him and he kicked and screamed until he was left in tears as he ran his hand through his hair. They lied, he thought to himself. His parents lied. They weren't going to save them. They were going to get to them too late. They were going to die in a blazing hot cell with nothing but the thought of what their life could have been. That's when he heard light footsteps running down the hallway. He quickly started to push himself up, grabbing the cell walls for balance, as he stared intently at the entrance. He started to mumble under his breath, begging God to let it be anyone who will help them. But Kira appeared, her face pale and her lip bloodied, quickly crushing his last hope of survival.
"Please, Kira, I beg to you, please help her," Damon begged as he leaned against the cell gate. "Melony, she needs water, she needs air." He said as he pointed to the cell next door. "I think she's dying, I can barely hear her heart beat. Please." He begged even more.
"Don't worry," Kira said as she ran to Melony's cell, "that's why I came here. Where we are going she is going to get everything she needs, I promise." She spoke quickly as she picked up Melony. Damon watched closely, as much as he could, wondering what the hell she was talking about. Kira came back out and rounded the corner to his cell, carrying Melony. Damon backed away. "Listen, we are going to get out of this building. It's not safe here anymore. But if you try anything, and I mean anything, I'm going to hurt you. Possibly kill you, do you understand?" Kira asked as she looked back towards the hallway with worry. Damon nodded quickly and Kira, after everything, finally opened the door. Damon immediately ran towards her even after his better judgment told him to listen to her, but it was like the Devil himself possessed his because his eyes were going crazy. Kira quickly stepped aside and kicked him in the back, knocking him down even harder. Damon screamed in pain as he skidded across the stone floor.
"Damon," he heard a familiar voice in the distance. And he smiled. After everything all he could do was smile through the pain as relief went sweeping through his whole body. And as he heard the footsteps getting closer and looked up at Kira.
"Looks like my parents found us quicker than you expected." He found himself teasing her. Kira jaw tightens and her eyes got darker as she turned to run. Damon quickly lunged at her feet and grabbed her leg, causing her to trip. Melony rolled slightly away and Damon held on to her as if it was the last thing he would do. Kira struggled to get loosen his grip and started to panic. She reached for her belt and whipped it out and before Damon knew it, a blade was being held to his chest. Kira watched as the eight year old boy's eyes widened, his mouth open, his face grow pale and just for a split second she started to second guess herself. Maybe this wasn't the way to go about her revenge. But she started to hear Melony moan as she came to and her eyes quickly turned cold again. She closed her eyes and pushed the sword down further slowly, and Damon felt the rusty blade against his skin. He started to panic and threw his hand out to the sword, pushing it aside. Kira took the opportunity and kicked him in the jaw. Damon's head whipped back and then nothing. He had stopped moving. Kira eyes widened and she scrambled to her feet. She quickly grabbed her sword and looked down at Damon, guilt washing over her for a second before she turned around and picked up Melony, rushing away from the sound of the footsteps.
