Lydia and Stiles talked for hours, laughing and enjoying all the memories of Jackson. They talked about his whole life and Lydia felt relieved. This is exactly what she needed and she hasn't felt this good in such a long time. Lydia's head laid on Stiles thigh as she stared up at him. His face had gotten more angular, his hair more messy and his eyes oddly enough, sweeter. She missed him, and she hadn't realized it until now that he was that comfort that she needed for so long.
"Why did you leave?" Lydia suddenly asked, remembering how hurt she was when he left. How Jackson stayed up with her all night as she cried in frustration and pain because he left without saying goodbye. Stiles blinked and looked down at Lydia, shocked a little. The whole time he has been back and no one has asked him why.
"I just...I didn't feel...I just..." Stiles struggled, realizing he didn't know how to explain what he was feeling. Lydia still looked up at him, patiently waiting. Stiles just stared into her eyes and thought of his hurt. "I felt like I..." Stiles began the door to the guest house opened, startling both upwards.
"Malia hey," Stiles said as he grabbed the back of his neck and squinted his eyes. Lydia just stared at the ground.
"What happening here?" Malia asked, her eyes narrowing on Lydia as she walked across the backyard.
"Nothing," Lydia immediately answered, her heart racing. "Stiles was just comforting me."
"Oh really? What a coincidence that is." Malia said as she stepped in to the patio, her shorts showing off her long toned legs and her tank top showing her toned arms.
"Malia, stop." Stiles said in an annoyed toned. "Leave her alone. Today isn't a good day." Malia rolled her eyes as her jaw tightened.
"I'm just going to go on a run, if you don't mind." Malia said as she walked to the back of the backyard and to the gate. Stiles shouted after her, but she was off before Stiles was even half way across the backyard.
"I'm sorry Stiles, I didn't mean to get her angry with you." Lydia said as Stiles walked up the patio stairs.
"No I'm sorry, I shouldn't have let her talk to you like that." Stiles said smiling slightly. Lydia smiled lightly back at him. Just then the back door of the main house busted open, making them both jump.
"Aiden," Lydia gasped. Aiden stood there, eyes red and puffy, beer bottle in hand. His hair all over the place and his clothes all crinkly. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to get you." Aiden said as he stumbled forward. "You've been gone for enough time. I miss you. I miss Melony." He slurred. Stiles grabbed Lydia by the shoulders and guided her behind him, staring down Aiden.
"I think you need to go." Stiles said as he held out arm, walking back with every step Aiden took, wanting to keep the safe distance. Aiden smirked as he got closer. Lydia now hit the railing and was smushed between it and Stiles.
"What's wrong Stiles?" Aiden mocked. "Scared I'll take the girl from you for a second time."
"Aiden, stop." Lydia said from behind Stiles, who had just tensed. Aiden was now close enough to reach Lydia as he pushed Stiles hand away, getting closer every time. Lydia buried her face into Stiles back and just shut her eyes tight. Stiles tried to calmly get Aiden away but Aiden stubbornly refused. Aiden reached for Lydia, grabbing her hair and yanked her, trying to get her out from behind Stiles. Lydia shrieked in terror as she stumbled forward and Stiles tackled Aiden.
"Stiles no!" Lydia screamed and she saw him struggle to keep Aiden down. "Stop!" Lydia said as she tried to break up the fight that would break out soon if she didn't get them away from each other. Just then Aiden took a swing at Stiles and connected it to his jaw. Stiles fell to the side but quickly recovered and returned the punch. All the while Lydia screams were in the background.
The door again busted open and there stood Allison with Melony. Lydia ran to them and shouted for Scott as Allison held her. Melony let go of her moms hand and ran to Stiles, shoving him as she shouted.
"Get off him! Get off my dad!" Melony yelled as she started to frantically shove Stiles once she saw Aiden's bloody face. Lydia tried to get out of Allison's grip, but Allison held on tight.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" Lydia shouted as she squirmed.
"Lydia, stop!" Was all Allison said. Lydia was confused and shocked. What the hell was happening?
"I said let go of him!" Melony screamed at the top of her lungs as she gave one final shove and suddenly, Stiles was thrown off Aiden and half way across the patio. Lydia suddenly felt the grip loosen and she just stood there in shock. Allison knew something was going on with Melony and this was it.
