Chapter 6: The persuasion Equation

"Come on Rex, she can do it! She's already better every day. She'll be out of the hospital tomorrow, and she had barely any brain damage. She can do this mission, I know she can. She'll be heart broken if she couldn't do this mission. I'll do anything, please, let her do this mission."

"Tommy, if this happens again, then we can put more than her life in jeopardy, but yours and the whole agency's secret. We can't afford for them to find out."

"And if we send in somebody else, then we'll have an even greater chance of having our secret being let out to them. Just think about it, if he works for Joe and Elizabeth, and he's already seen her 'die' then he won't try to find her again, but other people in the agency. He thinks that she's dead, so she won't be at risk."

"Or she could be at greater risk if he finds out she survived."

"We'll all be at risk anyways, just like any other mission! Do you really doubt that she can't do this? Of course she can! Please, just put your trust in her this one time. I'll do anything."

"I'll ask her, just to make sure, and I'll double check with the doctors, but I want you to keep an eye on her at all times. Take the same classes. Actually, I think your schedules are the same, or really close. And be in touch often. I'm going to give you this one chance Tommy. Do you really think that you and her can do this? Really, honestly, 100%?"

"Of course. This is Kate we're talking about. She can do anything. So yes, I do think that we can do this. The perfect team. Just us two."

"Alright then, I'll go talk to Kate and the doctors just to make sure. If she can't though, no arguing. Understand?"

"I understand sir."

"Don't call me 'sir'."

"Whatever you say, boss." and I walk away without saying another word.

Score one for me, I think. Me and Kate.

"TOMMY!" Kate comes squealing into the room in delight and jumps into my arms.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for letting me do this!"

"Anything for my princess." I say with a smile and we both laugh. And she doesn't rip put my vocal cords! That's a plus.

Looks like happily ever after endings do really come true.
