Chapter 25: Deal or no deal
"How is Rex him? Was he kidnapped? I bet he probably was kidnapped, then forced to say that. Probably when he said Anderson, it was a sign to me that he was being forced into this, a little hint. That means I must go and save him! Him and the other two kids. I mean I know I can do it bu-"
"Kate. There's no if. There's no kidnapping. Rex IS Dark Matter. The villan. Always was, always will be. I'm really sorry Kate, I really, really am, but there's no hope left in that man, that idiot, that, that son of a...that b******!" Mike yells that last bit a little too loud through the phone.
How can he do this? Mike is right: that b******. "I swear, the next time I see him, I am going to kill him! Literally kill him! Rip out his lungs, destroy him completely! I'm gonna...I'm gonna...oh, right." I say. Even though my head is filling up with ways to kill him, I forgot the most important thing.
I have to go to him to kill him.
That means I have to do the deal.
"Mike, what do I do, what do I do? I can't fight Rex, he's the one who trained me! I'm scared Mike, I really am, and for the first time ever, I just don't know what to do. You've got to help me, you have to Mike, you have to!" I begin whining. Oh wait, I forgot something.
"Please?" I say in a cute voice. That's about all I can do for joking right now.
"So, you can still break a joke, hun?"
"What, am I funny now?"
"Hilarious.😑"
"Wow Mike. Just...wow."
"You asked if you were funny. And that's your answer."
"No, I asked please for a conversation we need to get on."
"Oh yeaaaa. Forgot about that."
"I could tell." I reply with.
"Well, Kate, I think you can fight him."
"No. I can't do it."
"I never said you alone. You AND Tommy can do it. Together. he wouldn't expect you and Tommy, putting him in danger too. but you can do it."
And then I pause for a few moments, trying to think this plan through.
"You know what Mike, I think I can. I truly think I can."
"That's my Kate! Well, don't think, let's get started."
"Alright then Mike. Thank you so much for helping me." I tell him.
"But right now, it's fighting time."
