Chapter 3: Sink or Swim.

Like Rex said, the mission was going to begin in a week.

And now it's been a week.

Crap.

Time to start packing some clothes.

Rex did say that he paid for the airplane tickets and all of that crap.

But not the food.

Because if I could have chosen, I could go for a $25 gift card to Olive Garden. Man, I want those breadsticks now.

I'm hungry.

I guess I'll get more pizza or some Chinese food or whatever after I pack.

Which reminds me: I need more clothes.

Not now, I thought. Time for a nap.

And a nap I did take.

***

Prancing, pink, flying bunnies. All cute and cuddly, trying to get me to pet them.

Ugh.

Too girly.

Where's the badass part come in?

Oh yeah, when you wake up.

And suddenly it all changed.

***

All dark.

Tied up, can't do anything.

There's a cloth tied over my mouth. It smells like alcohol and sardines.

Some dream.

But it's not a dream.

It's real.

***

"Rise and shine, princess. Time to go." somebody says.

"And put a bag over her for christ's sake!" he adds in.

The last thing I remember seeing is a man covered in black cloth.

"Take it off," he says.

Nothing happens.

"Hey! I said take it off, so take it off!" he said again.

Must be a great entertainer at Thanksgiving dinner, I thought.

The bag is taken off my head and I take a good clean breath of oxygen.

Smells like salt water. The ocean. I glance over to take a look at my surroundings and feel that the binds are still around my arms and wrists.

"Okay, so this is how this is going to work, okay? We are going to ask you a couple of questions. If you answer them right, then we spare your life. If not, then first it's a bullet in the leg, followed by getting dumped into the ocean. Am I clear?"

I try to say yes, but it comes out muffled.

Thanks cloth.

"Oh, come on. Somebody get that gag off her!" he yells his ear piercing yell.

Wow that's loud.

"First question: who are you and who do you work for?"

I say nothing.

"Hey, pretty? I asked you a question. Who are you and who do you work for?!"

"I'm Kate Johnson and I work for the Subway in my town."

"No you don't. I've also changed my mind, it's not a bullet in the leg, but in the head. Who do you work for?"

"I work for... um... I work for... well... I work for... nobody." I say, finally making myself sound strong. The agency is worth more than one life.

Even though they are going to lose their preciously good looks.

"Alright then, shoot her." And I feel the barrel of the gun pointed to my head.

This is the end, I thought.

"Okay, so because we're nice, we'e going to watch you walk and fall into the ocean to your death. If not, then bye bye pretty face. Your choice."

And without my body knowing it, I feel my legs walking towards the edge of the cliff.

I do the only thing I know what to do right now: I pray to the Lord that he can spare my life.

And then I ignore common sense and jump to my death.

***

Ocean water can be really cold. And when you can't get out, it makes it a lot worse.

I try to get the bonds off my arms like in my training, but unfortunately, those people make them really tight and made a bolun knot and a slip knot, so yeah, I'm kind of falling to death's grasp.

Not falling, sinking.

And then a pair of hands grab my lifeless body and drag me up to the surface.

Thank you, God, I say in my head.

Thank you.

And then my world falls into a dangerous world of black.

Yeah, I understand it's a little early for the agent to be sent to her death. But it's a plot twister. Are you surprised they just threw her in? Actually let me rephrase. Are you surprised she jumped in? I honestly was kind of surprised myself when I wrote her to jump in instead of trying to fight her way out. Please comment your thoughts!
