"If you have to choose between me and her, Choose her.

Because if you truly did love me, there wouldn't be a choice."

Everyone was whispering around me, Vicky and I were glaring at the board as if we will get any answers. Our teacher Ms. Carter was standing right in front of us, she had a parchment in her hand which, I think, was the topic for the constant whispers around us.

"Alright, class!" Ms. Carter said, her voice cutting through the chatter like a knife, "Today, we're starting a new project. You'll each be paired with someone, and your goal is to get to know them, really understand them, and then write a summary on how you see them. It's due by the end of the month, I don't want any late submissions."

Pairing? Sounds like cupid to me, I just hope I get paired with- no I won't hope, hoping causes unhappiness. Let's see

"Let's see... Vicky, you're with Melissa. Ashton, you'll be with Sarah." She kept reading, finally pausing at my name, or so it seemed. "And Matthew, you'll be working with... Annie."

The name landed like a surprise punch. I looked up, trying to play it cool, but I couldn't stop my eyes from moving to Annie, who was already looking back with a friendly smile.

I hope im not looking like a red creepy totmato

Beside me, Vicky snickered, "Well, well, well," Vicky said under his breath. "Matthew and Annie, huh? I'm telling you, Ms. Carter's a matchmaker."

"Stop it, Vick," I whispered, glancing around to make sure no one else was listening. "It's just a project."

"Yeah, yeah, 'just a project,'" Vicky said with a smirk. "C'mon, you've been eyeing her since... forever, man."

Even though I knew it was true, I rolled my eyes, trying to brush it off. "You're exaggerating. I don't even talk about her that much."

"Sure. That's why last week you spent half of lunch describing her color-coded notes. Notes, Matt. You didn't even know they made highlighters in that many shades of blue!"

I laughed, even as my face warmed up. I really wanted to argue, but I knew Vicky wasn't wrong.

I did notice everything about her, She hums to herself while reading, tilts her head to the right when she is reading and finds something interesting or the fake smile she gives when she is annoyed.
