It was a sunny afternoon; sunrays filled the room through the windows. I, the birthday boy, glanced around the living room. It was filled with the familiar sounds of my friends' chit chat and laughter. Mel, my dearest girlfriend, declared Movie Afternoon today (since I like getting up late), which is apparently the best way to kick off a birthday.
I mean, I don't know. Movies are not really my thing; I've been more of a reader, but Let's try.
"Alright, people, settle down," she howled at all of them while I just chuckled.. Only to get a glare from her. The cruelty man! She was holding up a remote like it was a gavel.
"Horror movie theme. Alex, as the birthday boy, you get to pick."
I smirked at which she rolled her eyes. I know I was noticing her too much today... So yeah, taking the remote, I asked "What if I want to pick a comedy instead?"
"Not happening," Sebby said, throwing a piece of popcorn at me. "Birthday privileges don't extend that far."
"GUYS! its not fair." I whined.
"Shut up baby boy" Mel laughed at it and soon.. Everyone joined the laughter as I gave in and started scrolling through the options.
Annie was curled up on the couch in the corner. Her face was a little troubled by something, maybe the fact that we are watching a horror movie. She was never a fan of horror, Sebby on the other hand loves horror movies.
Hugo, as I had expected, had already made himself at home, stretched out in a beanbag. He was grumbling about Mel's snack choices. I agree, who eats Nachos with humus? Not me for sure. This reminds me, Our Ice cream date is still pending. Mel asked me to try a new flavor someday.
After hours of searching, (just been 5 mins), I finally landed on a classic horror movie. "This one?"
"Perfect," Mel approved, hitting play before anyone could protest. She is damn bossy.
The movie started with its eerie music and suspenseful silence. Typical.
It wasn't long before the first jump scare hit and- 1..2..3.."AAAAH!" Hugo's yelp shattered through the room's silence.
