The following morning, Jack, Sarah, and Amanda gathered in the DA's office, their eyes fixed on the files and maps spread out across the conference table. After weeks of dead ends, coded messages, and elusive trails, they finally had a tangible lead—the ledger they'd recovered from the warehouse. It was filled with transactions, all tied to Kane's network of shell companies, but its real value lay in the connections they'd started to piece together with Amanda's recent discoveries.

"This ledger is the backbone of Kane's entire operation," Amanda began, pointing to a list of transactions on the screen. "If we can trace these funds to his hidden assets and back to Project Phoenix, we might have enough to prove that he's been funneling money into something illegal. The problem is, it's encrypted in layers—some of these codes look like they lead nowhere."

Jack frowned, his eyes scanning the complex entries. "Kane's been careful, using multiple aliases and channels to make each transaction look legitimate. But there has to be a pattern here, something he didn't account for."

Sarah, leaning over the table, highlighted a particular sequence in the ledger. "Look here—these entries seem random, but they all start with the same code: 'PHX-88.' If that code represents Project Phoenix, it might be his way of tagging transactions related to it. Maybe it's his internal marker for any movement tied to that project."

Amanda nodded thoughtfully. "That could be it. But we'd need to follow the money and see where it leads. If we can identify a source or destination that connects to a real property, asset, or account, we'll have a physical link to bring to court."

Jack's mind raced as he considered their options. "Let's divide the transactions tied to 'PHX-88' and map them to see if any patterns emerge. We should also cross-reference these with the known properties and investments we've already uncovered. If we see overlap, we'll know we're onto something."

They spent the next few hours dissecting each entry, their focus intense as they unraveled the tangled web of transactions. Slowly but surely, a pattern began to emerge. Many of the entries led to obscure bank accounts overseas, but there were a few transfers that stood out—ones that fed back into Kane's own shell companies.

"Look at this," Sarah said, pointing to one of the flagged entries. "This transaction moved from an offshore account in the Caymans to a local account under the name 'Clearwater Holdings.' That name's come up before—it's tied to one of the properties Kane uses for his 'charity operations.'"

Amanda's eyes lit up. "Clearwater Holdings is listed on several of Kane's tax forms as a charitable entity. If he's funneling money through it under the guise of charity, we could expose him for fraud."

Jack nodded, feeling a surge of excitement. "If we can prove Clearwater Holdings is a front, we'll have a direct line to Kane's finances. We need to get our hands on everything tied to that account. Bank records, tax filings, any correspondence. If we can track the flow of funds through Clearwater Holdings, we might be able to uncover the larger operation behind Project Phoenix."

Amanda stood, gathering her notes. "I'll get a subpoena request started for the Clearwater Holdings bank records. It won't be easy—Kane's lawyers will fight it, but if we frame it as a necessary step in a fraud investigation, we might have a shot."

Jack looked at Sarah, his eyes glinting with determination. "In the meantime, let's work on the properties connected to Clearwater. We need to find out exactly where this money is going. If Kane's building something related to Project Phoenix, it's probably linked to one of his real estate holdings."

They split up the tasks, each diving into their portion of the investigation. Hours passed in tense, focused silence, punctuated only by the rustle of papers and the quiet hum of the computer screens. They knew they were running out of time, but for the first time in weeks, it felt like they had the upper hand.
