The DA's office was a hive of activity, every desk lit with monitors displaying documents, maps, and timelines as Jack, Sarah, and their team worked to assemble the case against Kane. Andrew Royce's arrest had given them a trove of new information, but it also left them with more questions than answers. The evidence was there—it just needed to be connected into a cohesive narrative that would hold up in court and expose the full scope of Kane's operation.
Jack sat at the head of the conference table, a stack of files spread out in front of him. He ran a hand through his hair, his expression focused but tense. "Alright, let's break this down. We have the logistics data from the Nevada facility, Royce's financial records, and the documents from the airfield. What's missing?"
Leo, seated across from Jack, tapped at his laptop. "We've got plenty of breadcrumbs, but we need something that ties it all together—one piece of evidence that connects Kane directly to Project Dominion."
Amanda, sitting beside Leo, looked up from her screen. "I've been cross-referencing the shipment manifests with the offshore accounts Royce managed. There's a pattern—large sums of money moving to contractors who specialize in surveillance equipment. It matches what we found at the Nevada facility."
Sarah, standing by the whiteboard, circled a name with her marker: Atlas. "And those contractors all report to Atlas. Royce's communications confirm it. If we can prove Kane is Atlas, we've got him."
Eleanor entered the room, her expression as sharp as ever. "Then let's focus on that. Royce might not admit he's working for Kane, but his records will. Amanda, prioritize finding direct links between Atlas and Kane. Jack, Sarah—your job is to nail down the witnesses. If this goes to trial, their testimony will be critical."
Jack and Sarah split up to meet with their key witnesses. First on their list was Tony, whose cooperation had been instrumental in uncovering Royce's financial operations. They found him in his small apartment, nervously pacing as they explained the latest developments.
"You're telling me you've got Royce?" Tony asked, his voice a mix of disbelief and relief.
Sarah nodded. "He's in custody, but we need your testimony to solidify the case. The more we can show how Kane's network operates, the harder it'll be for his lawyers to poke holes in the evidence."
Tony hesitated, running a hand through his hair. "I want to help, but... you know what they'll do to me if I testify."
Jack placed a reassuring hand on Tony's shoulder. "We'll protect you. NAW is already working on securing your identity and providing you with witness protection. You've done the hard part by coming forward. Now we need you to see it through."
After a long pause, Tony nodded. "Alright. I'll do it. But you'd better keep your promise."
Their next stop was Jasmine, the former employee of one of Kane's shell companies who had provided critical internal documents. She met them at a secure location, her demeanor calm but wary.
"I figured you'd be back," Jasmine said as she handed Sarah a flash drive. "This has everything else I could find. Emails, memos, even some meeting recordings. If this doesn't nail Kane, I don't know what will."
Jack accepted the drive, his voice steady. "This is exactly what we need. Your courage in coming forward could be what takes him down."
Jasmine gave a faint smile. "Courage, or stupidity? Either way, I just want this to be over."
"It will be," Sarah said firmly. "We're getting closer every day."
Back at the office, the team reconvened to review the new evidence. Amanda uploaded Jasmine's files, and the room fell silent as they listened to an audio recording of Royce discussing "expanding operations" with a man whose voice was heavily distorted.
