N: Meanwhile in the sitting room, Wolfgang was tapping his foot as he worried about his son, while Johann was trying to convince his friend that his brother has everything under control, and that he doesn't need to go.
"It's fine, Wolfe," Johann tried to reassure him, "Mandara is with him."
"I swear, Kress," the Saxon growled, glaring at the Mandorian, "if anything happened to him, I will make your second end miserable."
"Then we better hope that my brother is doing a good job then," the other chuckled nervously as he left the Saxon to his worrying.
M: It took a couple minutes but Mandara did return, he looked very mentally exhausted, plopping on the couch and burying his face in a pillow. He would have stayed that way if Wolfie hadn't demanded to know what happened, and after much consideration, he decided to tell him.
"I promised him that I wouldn't tell you so you didn't hear this from me, I don't want to lose the trust I built up with him," he sighed, "I still don't know how he died, we never did find his body when he did, so I would have to guess foul play. He's very vulnerable right now, you have to be extremely gentle with him. I'm going to have the house workers start locking up any sharp objects, I don't think he's suicidal but it wouldn't hurt to be on the safe side."
He looked up to his friend, resting his head on his arms, "what are we going to do, it took me needing to get brutally honest with him just for him to accept a hug."
N: Wolfgang sighed as he tried to think of a way to get through to Niko, but he shook his head in defeat.
"We would have to let him come to us when he feels like the time is right," he commented, "I wouldn't want to be reminded of how I died any more than the next resurrected person, but we'll need to show him that we're here to support him and love him."
The Saxon grumbled as he buried his head in his hand, "why wasn't I there for him?"
M: "I ask myself the same thing, not why you weren't there for Niko, but I had a similar problem with Poldara after his accident," Mandara sighed again, "all his life he wanted to be just like his Uncle MA, he wanted to be the next Mandara Army, but after the aircraft hangar fire, he was just far too injured to even become a soldier, let alone a general. He became so depressed, I did my best to help him through it, or at least I thought I did, but I was oblivious to a lot of things he was doing to himself, like cutting his arms and drowning himself in alcohol. I only started to notice how bad things were when it was too late, and before I knew it, I was sitting by my brother's hospital bed, praying that he would survive his throat being slit by my own son."
He sat up and rubbed his tired eyes, "my point is that parents, especially inexperienced ones, tend to not notice a lot of things our kids go through, and that's why we're not always there for them. Eventually we come to learn how to spot the signs, to come to their aid when they need us, it just takes time and practice. I've had that time and practice, I'll help you however I can, but don't beat yourself up for being absent, it's not your fault you were taken away from your family, and now's your chance to be there for him."
N: Wolfgang nodded, and after taking a moment to think, he silently got up from his seat and walked towards the door. However, when Johann asked where he was going, he froze in his tracks.
"To go watch over my son," the Saxon grumbled, then he turned around and stared at Johann dead in the eye, "are you still going to advise me that I stay, Kress?"
"Nein, you go right ahead," the Mandorian quickly replied, which got a satisfying huff from his friend before the Saxon disappeared. The moment he was gone, the man slumped into the sofa right where Wolfgang was.
