I have big trust issues now

The room was scorched badly. There was a whole rock pillar that was now a simple rock because of the explosion. I looked around for Zane, Bird and Zotz because I didn't see them at the table. Zotz was slouched against the far wall near the exit. One of his wings detached and he was badly burnt while blood pooled around him. There was dust from the explosion covering him like a coffin. Bird was curled up in a ball in the middle of the room. His eyes wide awake with shock as blood pooled around him like a lake. Fire spread all around the room, some in puddles others in lines. Also near Zotz were 5 gasoline cans. Gasoline cans. Gasoline cans. No. He really did do it.

"TRAITOR-" I screamed on the top of my lungs until Annabeth put a hand on my shoulder.

"Where's Zane?" Annabeth asked with a shaky voice. I was still worried about him, but I felt no remorse now. If I had to hurt him I would.

"On the run." I replied harshly. I walked outside the cave and I found a partially burnt shoe. Dam, he at least also got hurt. Hopefully not as badly.

"Will declared him dead, Zotz is gone." Annabeth was holding a book. It had multiple tabs sticking out of it.

"What's that?" I asked.

"Our advantage over Zane. He left me his book. It had many things about the Maya that our own books at camp don't have!" Annabeth exclaimed, "Things a human shouldn't know."

"That's dark. So you knew he wasn't human?"

"He's most likely a Maya Magician from what I can tell." That explains why he doesn't like Bird and Zotz. They had more power than him. I noticed five people running towards us. I loosened my grip on Riptide when I realized it was Reyna,Thalia, Hazel, Grover and Rachel running towards us. We were going to need all the help we could get searching for him.

"Percy you're badly burnt." Will was next to me now examining my wounds. I gestured for him to move aside. Nico came out with a bone shovel in his hand. He most likely finished burying Zotz.

"Reyna, Thalia and Nico. You guys are with me, let's go!" I shouted as I dashed off in the direction of Zane's escape. There was a blood trail which was good so now we had something to follow him with.

"Who exactly are we looking for!" Thalia shouted next to me. Her eyes were red like she was just crying and her jacket was covered in blood.

"ZANE!" I shouted as I tried to follow the blood.

"IS HE OKAY!?" Thalia exclaimed with a worried look on her face.

"WORSE, HE BETRAYED US AND KILLED ZOTZ!" I picked up my pace. Then not a while later the trial stopped. We were off his trail and lost in the middle of the woods.

"Nico, do you sense anyone close to death?" I asked him. Nico turned his hands upward and a soul appeared. It said something and then disappeared.

"He went right!" Nico pointed in the direction and ran that way. It got dark faster than I expected. Nico had tried to shadow travel us closer but we didn't make it too far. Reyna and Thalia had sent up tents for us. We had to continue searching in the morning. Hopefully he would be passed out when we found him so I wouldn't have to hurt him too badly.
