The mission assigned to me by the Hokage was far from challenging—a simple escort with no tension or risk. Once again, I was left without a task that truly matched my abilities.
During the journey, I had too much time to think—perhaps more than was healthy. Yet, one thought clung to my mind, an idea I couldn't shake. It's something I want to test today, something that might finally break through the stagnation I've been feeling.
The first rays of the morning sun have yet to reach the sky as I make my way to the training grounds. The village lies silent, wrapped in a calm that will only last for a few more hours. The streets are nearly empty, and I occasionally pass shinobi or villagers heading to work early. Their footsteps echo softly in the cool morning air. Soon, Konohagakure will be teeming with life again, but for now, this world belongs to me alone.
"During the mission, I didn't even need my Sharingan," I think, directing my thoughts to Kitsune. "My vision works fine, but we still don't know if it's true that the Sharingan won't blind me over time."
Kitsune's gentle but cautious voice responds. "Princess, we can assume the myth is true, but you should still be careful."
I nod slightly, even though she can't see me. Kitsune's words always carry a trace of concern, and I appreciate her care. But that doesn't change my plan.
"Even when I wore the blindfold, I could clearly feel how much my Mangekyou Sharingan abilities had evolved," I share my thoughts with Kitsune and Yako. "And there's one thing I have to try. It could help me protect Naruto in the future."
"Then we'll support you, Princess," Yako's energetic and determined voice answers. "Whatever you have planned—you're not alone."
A smile crosses my face. "Thank you, both of you."
The walk to the training grounds is short, and the silence around me gives me the space I need to gather my thoughts. Today, I won't just test a new jutsu—I'll find out if I can truly bear the burden of my eyes.
I take a deep breath, the cool morning air filling my lungs. For a moment, I close my eyes, letting the calm of the training grounds settle over me. Then, I open them again, and the crimson glow of the Mangekyou Sharingan floods my vision. It feels more natural than ever, as though it has always been a part of me.
"One step at a time," I tell myself, focusing on the task ahead.
Without needing hand signs, I let my power flow. Two familiar shadows appear before me, their forms sharp and distinct. These are the shadows I've summoned many times before, but today is different.
I let my gaze linger on them, feeling the energy of the Mangekyou Sharingan coursing through me. "Will you two help me?" I ask softly, not raising my voice. It's more of a thought, a wish amplified by my Sharingan.
The moment the words leave me, the shadows begin to shift. Their forms blur and soften, as if they're being shaped from another dimension. My heart pounds as I watch the transformation unfold.
This is no ordinary summoning. It's the next level: Dan Eien no Seishin, the Rift of Eternal Spirit.
Where my shadows once stood, two figures now take shape. At first, I see only their outlines, then their faces, slowly coming to life. My aunt Kushina and Minato Namikaze stand before me, just as I remember them from blurry memories and stories.
I feel my throat tighten as I stare at them, unable to speak. They look back at me, their eyes wide with surprise. Time seems to freeze for a moment.
"Yukari? You've grown so much... How old are you now?" Kushina's voice is warm, like a gentle embrace, stirring long-forgotten memories. Yet there's also amazement in her tone, as if she can't quite believe what she's seeing.
