I've been traveling for hours since Orochimaru attempted to take over my body. The thought of his attack still sends a chill down my spine, but I push it aside. "I can't sense Zetsu either," I think while scanning my surroundings. Finally alone, without the constant surveillance. At least for now.
"Yako, Kitsune," I call out mentally to my loyal companions. "I'm far from Akatsuki and on my own. How are you two?"
"Princess," Kitsune's familiar voice echoes softly in my mind, gentle as always but tinged with her characteristic teasing. "The real question is, how are you? We're the same as always."
Before I can fully process her words, Yako sends an image into my mind. It's vivid and clear—Naruto and Sasuke, both wearing their forehead protectors, standing on a training field with Kakashi. Naruto radiates boundless energy, while Sasuke, true to form, maintains his cool, distant demeanor.
I pause, a warmth spreading through me. Pride. "They're both Genin now," I say softly, a smile creeping into my voice. "That truly makes me happy. But Naruto and Sasuke on the same team..." I trail off, letting out a small, amused laugh. "I hope they don't drive Kakashi insane."
"That sounds like an interesting team," Kitsune comments, her tone lighthearted. "But Naruto is still a bundle of energy, isn't he? Kakashi will certainly have his hands full."
"I have a report for Itachi and the Hokage," I finally say, gathering my thoughts. "Tell them I've only been given mercenary tasks by Akatsuki so far—nothing significant, but necessary to build their trust. Now Pain has assigned me to capture the Three-Tails. I'm on my way there."
I pause briefly before adding, "Orochimaru was supposed to accompany me. Instead, he tried to take over my body. But with my Sharingan, I overpowered him. I'm now heading to the Three-Tails alone."
Kitsune's voice turns serious, almost admonishing. "Be careful, Princess. Lord Minato often spoke of how powerful the Tailed Beasts are. And if the Three-Tails truly doesn't have a Jinchūriki, it's even more unpredictable. I'll inform Itachi and the Hokage immediately. The Hokage has been asking about you recently."
"If you find yourself in danger," Yako adds calmly, "summon us. Your life is more important than the mission."
I take a deep breath, grateful for their concern. "I promise," I say. "I'll contact you as soon as I've completed the mission. I can already see the Three-Tails in the distance."
With that, I bid them farewell and press onward.
The Three-Tails rises before me like a force of nature. The massive, turtle-like Tailed Beast looks almost surreal, its enormous, armored shell covered in sharp spikes. Three powerful tails lash restlessly through the air, and its crimson eyes burn like blazing torches. Its breath rumbles like a storm, making the ground beneath me tremble. The water surrounding it churns wildly, every movement sending waves crashing outward.
Before I can properly assess the Three-Tails, it notices me. Without warning, it launches massive water bullets at an incredible speed. I leap reflexively to the side, but I know I'll have to do more than just dodge.
I pause, focus for a moment, and activate my Yoko Senpō form. For the first time, I'll use my fox form in a real battle. I feel the natural energy wrap around me like a second skin as the familiar ears and tail manifest. A surge of power courses through me as I dodge the next water bullet and fix my gaze on the Three-Tails.
"Time to see what this form is truly capable of," I whisper, preparing myself for the fight.
The Three-Tails looms above me like a raging natural disaster. Its glowing red eyes bore into me, its massive frame bristling with sharp spikes. The three tails lash violently through the air, while the water beneath it churns with ferocity. Every movement sends ripples across the earth. Yet I remain calm—focused.
