RECAP

In last chapter in the story 'Maniac' Soonyoung, Jihoon and Dino made a visit to Seokmin’s house and Jisoo tried to pass them hints. And Seokmin got furious on Jisoo for trying to involve oeople between them and beated him up.

I am planning to complete this one first.

After visiting Jisoo and Seokmin, Jihoon couldn’t shake the unease that settled in his chest. Throughout the visit, he had noticed things that didn’t sit right with him—the way Jisoo’s eyes flickered with a hint of fear, how he seemed to shrink slightly whenever Seokmin was nearby, and the forced, tense smile he wore the entire time. He couldn’t ignore it, and as he drove back with Soonyoung, he voiced his concerns.

“Soonyoung,” Jihoon started, trying to keep his tone casual but unable to mask the worry in his voice. “Did you notice anything… off about Jisoo today?”

Soonyoung glanced over at Jihoon, raising an eyebrow. “What do you mean? I thought everything seemed fine. Seokmin’s just… well, you know how he is, always a bit intense. That’s just how he loves Jisoo.”

Jihoon shook his head, his fingers tapping nervously on the steering wheel. “I don’t know, Soonyoung. Jisoo seemed… different. He looked… tired. And whenever Seokmin got too close, it felt like Jisoo was on edge.”

Soonyoung shrugged, flashing a small, reassuring smile. “I think you’re overthinking it, Jihoon. Everyone has off days. Maybe Jisoo was just stressed or tired. Relationships have their ups and downs, right?”

But Jihoon couldn’t let it go. He nodded slowly, pretending to consider Soonyoung’s words, but his mind was elsewhere. The memory of Jisoo’s guarded expression and Seokmin’s almost too-watchful gaze lingered, haunting him. He thought of Jisoo’s silence during the visit, the way he seemed almost relieved yet afraid every time Jihoon or Soonyoung addressed him.

Over the following days, the worry gnawed at Jihoon, keeping him awake at night. He found himself pacing his apartment, replaying every small detail he had seen. Jisoo wasn’t just a friend to him; he was like a brother, and the thought of Jisoo being in some kind of trouble made Jihoon’s stomach churn.

Finally, unable to hold back any longer, Jihoon decided to talk to Jeonghan, Jisoo’s older brother. If anyone could understand, it would be Jeonghan. They met at a quiet café that Jeonghan often visited, and as soon as Jihoon sat across from him, the concern was written plainly across his face.

Jeonghan frowned, setting down his coffee as he studied Jihoon. “What’s going on, Jihoon? You look… tense.”

Jihoon took a shaky breath, feeling his heart race as he began to speak. “It’s about Jisoo. I… I went to visit him with Soonyoung, and… something didn’t feel right. He didn’t seem like himself, Jeonghan. He seemed… afraid.”

Jeonghan’s expression darkened, his jaw clenching. “Afraid? What do you mean?”

“I know it sounds strange,” Jihoon said, glancing down at his hands as he struggled to find the right words. “But Jisoo seemed… off. It was like he was forcing himself to act normal, but there was this fear in his eyes. And Seokmin was… he was always close to him, always watching. It didn’t feel like care; it felt like… control.”

Jeonghan’s eyes narrowed, a protective fury beginning to simmer beneath his calm exterior. “Jisoo has always been so strong, so independent. If he’s feeling trapped, that’s a serious problem.”

Jihoon nodded, grateful for Jeonghan’s support. “I thought maybe I was overthinking it, but… I can’t get it out of my head. I tried talking to Soonyoung, but he just brushed it off. He thinks it’s just Seokmin’s personality, but this feels like more than that.”

Jeonghan’s face was set in determination as he listened, his gaze becoming sharper. “You’re not the kind to jump to conclusions, Jihoon. If you’re worried, there’s probably a good reason for it. I trust your instincts.”

Jihoon felt a surge of relief hearing Jeonghan’s validation, but it didn’t erase the unease gnawing at him. He looked up, his eyes pleading with Jeonghan. “What should we do, Jeonghan? I don’t want to just stand by if Jisoo’s in trouble.”

Jeonghan’s expression softened, but there was a fierce protectiveness in his eyes. “We keep an eye on him, Jihoon. I’m not going to let Jisoo suffer in silence if something’s wrong. We make sure he knows he’s not alone, that we’re here for him. And if Seokmin is doing anything to hurt him…” Jeonghan’s voice dropped, a steely edge coloring his words, “then he’ll have me to answer to.”

Jihoon nodded, feeling a mix of gratitude and worry. Knowing Jeonghan was on his side gave him some comfort, but he couldn’t help but feel a growing urgency. The memory of Jisoo’s haunted expression lingered, a reminder that something was deeply, undeniably wrong. And as Jihoon and Jeonghan sat there, both resolved to protect Jisoo at all costs, an unspoken promise hung in the air—they wouldn’t let Jisoo face whatever darkness was closing in around him alone.
