It was an unusually sunny morning when the babysitters' chaotic routine began to unfold. Jeonghan and Seungcheol, juggling an overflowing diaper bag and coffee mugs, were already late for work. Six-month-old Soobin had managed to dribble milk all over Seungcheol’s tie just as they were about to leave.“Seokmin, do not let him crawl near the cables again,” Jeonghan ordered, expertly scooping Soobin up for a goodbye kiss.
“Yes, Commander,” Seokmin replied, saluting with a slice of toast in one hand and a baby bottle in the other.
Seungcheol, rubbing the bridge of his nose, grumbled, “I swear, one day this baby’s gonna learn how to destroy everything before he even learns to walk.”
“Don’t worry,” Seokmin chirped, balancing Soobin on his hip. “I’ve got it all under control!”
In the background, Jisoo, still in his pajamas, dramatically lounged on the couch, sipping tea like royalty. “Leave him to me. Soobin needs someone with charisma to guide him through life’s trials.”
Jeonghan gave him a look. “Charisma doesn’t clean diapers, Jisoo.”
“It supervises,” Jisoo shot back, flipping his nonexistent cape.
With one last exasperated glance at the scene, Jeonghan grabbed Seungcheol’s arm and dragged him out the door, leaving Seokmin to handle whatever chaos unfolded next.
By the time Jisoo wrapped up his day teaching at the kindergarten, he was armed with a collection of glitter-filled crafts and an arsenal of stories about the overly imaginative kids in his class.
“Sunoo!” he called, waving at Jihoon and Soonyoung’s six-year-old, who came bounding out of the classroom with a grin. “Time to pick up your brother!”
Sunoo held up a paper crown he had made. “Look, Soo, it’s for you! Because you’re a princess.”
Jisoo gasped, clutching the crown like it was the most precious jewel. “A queen, darling. Queens wear crowns, but thank you for the promotion!”
At the elementary school, 11-year-old Dino was already waiting at the gate. He grinned as Jisoo approached, his usual mischief glinting in his eyes.
“You’re late,” Dino teased, crossing his arms.
“I am never late,” Jisoo declared, striking a dramatic pose. “A star like me arrives exactly when the universe demands it!”
Sunoo giggled, hiding behind his older brother. Dino, unimpressed, rolled his eyes. “You’re lucky Uncle Seokmin is the calm one, or we’d all be living in a soap opera.”
“You’re lucky I’m fabulous enough to save you from mediocrity,” Jisoo shot back, holding Sunoo’s hand as they walked home.
Vernon and Seungkwan, often tagged along during the after-school routine. Vernon, as usual, walked with robotic precision, analyzing the world around him with detached interest.
“Today’s chaos level: slightly above average, and Soo is louder by 30%.” Vernon noted, glancing at Jisoo’s glitter-covered backpack.
“Chaos?” Jisoo scoffed, tossing his hair. “This is artistry, Vernon. You wouldn’t understand.”
Meanwhile, Seungkwan trailed behind, avoiding eye contact with Vernon as his cheeks turned an impossible shade of pink.
“You’re awfully quiet today, Seungkwan, Today's quietness lever 400%” Dino teased, nudging him with a grin. “What’s wrong? Thinking about Vernon again?”
Seungkwan flailed, his voice going up an octave. “Dino!”
“What?” Dino replied innocently. “I’m just saying, you two would make a great couple. Like one of those slow-burn romances in dramas. Except slower.”
Jisoo, always one to fuel the fire, chimed in. “Oh, Dino, leave them alone! True love takes time. Just look at me and Seokmin—he had to earn my affection.”
“Minnie literally begged for a peaceful life, and you turned it into a circus,” Dino deadpanned.
Back at home, Seokmin was multitasking like a pro. Soobin, lying on his playmat, babbled nonsense while Seokmin balanced his laptop on one knee and a baby bottle on the other.
The front door burst open, and the once-calm apartment transformed into a carnival. Sunoo and Dino raced to Soobin’s side, their backpacks flung in random directions.
“My darling nephew!” Jisoo cried, dramatically sweeping Soobin into his arms. “Did you miss me? Tell me everything!”
Soobin gurgled, tugging at Jisoo’s hair.
“Careful, Bluebell.” Seokmin called from the kitchen. “He’s teething. That’s a death grip.”
Meanwhile, Dino sidled up to Seungkwan. “You should hold Soobin too. Vernon hyung might think it’s cute.”
Seungkwan, flustered, glared at Dino. “Stop it!”
Vernon, oblivious as ever, looked over. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing!” Seungkwan squeaked, dragging Dino into the kitchen before he could cause more damage.
When Jihoon and Soonyoung came to pick up their kids, the apartment’s energy hit new heights with their own brand of chaos.
“MY BABIES!” Soonyoung cried, sweeping Sunoo off the floor and spinning him around. Dino tried to act too old for hugs, but his resolve crumbled when Soonyoung hugged him tight.
“Appa, you’re embarrassing me!” Dino whined, though the grin on his face gave him away.
Jihoon, as calm and composed as ever, surveyed the scene. “Impressive. The apartment is still standing.”
“Barely,” Seokmin replied, gesturing to Jisoo, who was attempting to teach Soobin how to wave like royalty.
“You could offer to babysit sometime, Jihoon,” Jisoo said, handing Soobin over. “Give me a break from being the favorite uncle.”
Jihoon smirked. “The kids are more entertained by you than the other way around.”
Soonyoung leaned over to Seokmin, whispering, “Dino says Jisoo’s been extra dramatic lately. Is everything okay?”
“Everything’s fine,” Seokmin replied with a chuckle. “That’s just Jisoo being Jisoo.”
And so, amidst the chaos, teasing, and endless theatrics, the routine carried on. It was messy, loud, and unpredictable—but it was also full of love, laughter, and the kind of joy that made every moment worth it.
