FLASHBACK
The past unfolded in Azriel’s mind, a haunting reminder of the witches’ history. He saw their brutal end at the hands of the gods—how they were hunted down, their homes razed, and their lives extinguished. The gods, driven by their own fear and desire for control, had slaughtered the witches and burned their sacred places. The few survivors had been driven into hiding, but sadly they were all found and were obliterated, every single one of them.
Azriel, as the last descendant of the witches, carried the weight of their lost heritage. He understood the gravity of their plight and the depth of their desire for revenge. Yet, he was also torn by his love for Irene, a love that had been used against him, he felt used and stupid for thinking Irene loved him how did he arrived to such a moment?
****************
In the mortal realm, Elysian was struggling with his own separation from Azriel. He missed him profoundly, their connection a distant memory as he stayed hidden in the cottage. The animals around him could speak, offering him companionship and warnings, but they could not replace the presence of the one he longed to see.
Elysian’s thoughts often wandered to Azriel, imagining what he might be doing, whether he was safe, and if he was thinking of him.
Elysian was exhausted, thinking about it . The week had been a blur of healing, enhancing, and isolation. The tranquil cottage, nestled in a secluded part of the forest, had become his sanctuary, but it also felt like a gilded cage. The animals that sought refuge with him were now his only companions, and their presence was both a comfort and a constant reminder of the world’s peril. The Torch of Light, now a part of him, had transformed him into a celestial being, and his appearance reflected this change. His skin shimmered with an otherworldly glow, his red lips had taken on a luminous quality, and his eyes held the depth of someone who had seen both divine and dark realms.
He spent his days tending to the wounded animals and fortifying the cottage with his growing powers. His abilities were beyond anything he had ever imagined. Animals, once silent, now conversed with him, sharing their fears and wisdom. The bond he formed with them was profound, and they came to see him as both protector and friend.
The serene routine was abruptly shattered one evening when a thunderclap reverberated through the air. The sky darkened as if the heavens themselves were disturbed. Elysian felt a chilling breeze that whispered of impending danger. The animals scattered, their usual calm replaced by frantic panic.
The cottage’s protective barriers, which had held firm against numerous threats, began to falter. Elysian’s heart raced as he sensed the overwhelming presence of an immense force. He stepped outside, and his gaze fell upon the sky, now streaked with fiery orange and black. His breath caught in his throat as he saw the source of the disturbance: Zeus and twenty enormous dragons, their eyes blazing with fury.
The gods had come for him. Their intent was clear—they wanted the Essence of the Torch within him, and they were willing to destroy everything to get it.
Zeus’s voice thundered across the landscape, a booming command that pierced through the chaos. “Elysian! Surrender the Torch and face justice!”
Elysian’s heart pounded. He knew he had to protect himself and the animals, but the sheer scale of the gods’ wrath was overwhelming. He raised his hands, summoning the Torch’s light in a desperate attempt to create a barrier. The light flared bright, but it was insufficient against the relentless onslaught of fire and magic.
As the gods and dragons closed in, Elysian’s powers surged, but a deep sense of dread overwhelmed him. The earth beneath him began to tremble violently, as if responding to the disturbance. Trees swayed and cracked, and an ominous howl echoed through the forest. The very ground seemed to be reacting to the ferocity of the confrontation.
The landscape shifted dramatically as if the earth itself was alive and fighting back. Trees toppled, and the ground split open, creating chasms that swallowed fire and debris. The gods faltered, their expressions a mix of shock and fear. The once-stable forest was now a maelstrom of destruction.
In the midst of the chaos, a new figure emerged—an alluring woman cloaked in dark, flowing robes. Her presence was suffused with an intense, almost palpable magic. She was Irene, the perpetrator behind the devastating attack. Her eyes were fierce and determined, reflecting her deep hatred and rage.
The gods and dragons paused, their attention drawn to Irene. Her power was immense, and the dark energy she wielded was terrifying. The sheer scale of her magic was unprecedented. With a mere gesture, she conjured waves of shadowy energy that lashed out at the gods.
Elysian’s fear turned to despair as he realized the full extent of Irene’s plan. Her goal was to harness the power of the Torch and the gods for herself, to bring about a new era where she would reign supreme. She had discovered and mastered the Shadow Spell, a lost and devastating magic that had been wielded by the first dead witches. This spell allowed her to channel the combined power of the dead witches, making her a formidable and dangerous adversary.
Zeus, realizing the gravity of the situation, attempted to confront Irene directly. His voice was a mix of authority and desperation. “Irene, you cannot control the power you seek! It will destroy everything!”
But Irene was unmoved. Her anger towards Zeus, who had always dismissed her as a weakling, fueled her resolve. She loathed the idea of men holding power and was determined to overturn the established order. The Shadow Spell granted her the strength she needed to challenge the gods, and she wielded it with ruthless precision.
The earth itself seemed to betray Elysian, as he was engulfed by a swirling vortex of energy. The waves of shadow magic lashed out, causing an earthquake that shook the very foundations of the world. Trees disintegrated, and the land was ravaged by the spell’s destructive force.
Amid the chaos, Elysian felt an overwhelming sense of confusion. His mind was unstable as he realized that the lady's manipulation had led to this devastating conflict. She had used whatever medium to further her own ambitions, and now she was using the very forces of darkness to bring about the downfall of Mount Olympus.
In the midst of the turmoil, the thought of using the new training he received to attack came to him but a voice warned him,
" No Elysian don't do it, you might end up getting killed."
Elysian frozed thinking about the mysterious voice that spoked to just spoke to him meanwhile the scene below was a ghastly spectacle. The gods were being systematically overwhelmed by Irene’s magic. Zeus, the mighty ruler, was struck down by a surge of shadow magic that incinerated him in a flash of dark fire. The dragons, once fierce and indomitable, were melted by the intense heat of the magic. The gods’ defeat was a devastating blow, their immortal forms reduced to ashes.
In the chaos, Elysian was carried by the waves of a river, the earth’s final act of protection. The waves flowed with a gentle force, guiding him to safety as the world around him crumbled. The animals that had once been his companions now watched from a distance, their eyes filled with sorrow and fear.
Elysian’s journey had taken a dark turn, and the stakes had never been higher. The world was on the brink of annihilation, and he was caught in the crossfire of a battle that threatened to consume everything he held dear. The power of the Torch was both a blessing and a curse, and the path ahead was fraught with danger.
As he floated on the river, the echoes of the battle faded into the distance. The reality of the situation began to sink in. Irene’s wrath was unrelenting, and the gods had been vanquished. The world needed a savior, and Elysian might be the only one left to face the coming storm but could that really be the solution ?
