Donnie pushed pass Leo and walked to meet April as she burst through the entryway.
"Where is he!?" She cried, tears lining her eyes while her eyes darted around the room looking for some indication of her brother.
"In the med bay..." April nodded and went to run off in that direction, Donnie grabbing her arm and preventing her "there's... Something else that needed to be said before you see him though." He gave his sister a stern look.
"What's happened Donnie?" She asked, Donnie just realized Casey had come along as well. This was going to be hard, he knew from the videos how close Casey was to Leo how would he react?
"Both of you might want to sit down" he took them to the living room, "right, so, here's the thing. Leo doesn't remember the Kraang or the invasion" April looked concerned, her head turning to the med bay, before looking back at Donnie.
"Meaning we don't want to bring it up, or anything associated with it. Meaning" Donnie looked at Casey "Im sorry CJ. You cannot see him."
Casey's eyes widened, he looked hurt. That was valid, as he was just told he couldn't see someone so inordinately close to him. Casey's eyes welled with tears.
"So I've lost him?" His voice broke, Donnie tensed... What could be do? He wasn't good at this. Maybe he should've sent Mikey out to talk to them. Donnie began to scratch himself as he anxiously thought of an excuse anything he could say that might be some sort of consultation. Although Donnie knew in a way Casey had indeed lost his mentor.
"No. You haven't, we could come up with something, like your new to town and you fell into the sewers or something. Came across us?" Donnie scrambled around trying to say words of comfort. April placed a hand on Casey's shoulder, he looked at her.
"I've lost him." He repeated.
"No, Case we'll find a way, promise." She said looking at Donnie, "Can I see him?" She asked, Donnie just nodded. April patted Casey shoulder before making her way to see her brothers.
"Casey..." Donnie began, Casey who was very close to crying turned to face the purple genius. "I will warn you, there might be a chance that you can't see Leo at all" Donnie warned
"What? Why?" He asked.
"Leo doesn't consciously remember the invasion or you. That doesn't mean that subconsciously he's forgotten. Meaning anything related to the invasion could be a trigger or bring the memories back. I don't know how he'll deal with them" Donnie informed.
Casey nodded, "I'll leave you guys be then" he tossed Donnie another USB. Casey then walked out of the lair returning to his present house. Donnie felt terrible, who was he to tell a kid... Who was his age now because of time travel. That he couldn't see his father figure, who was also now his age.
...
Leo sat on the bed beside his brother, he'd been told that he was out for three weeks and needed crutches to be able to walk. What had happened? He'd taken punches from Raph before... That couldn't be the cause of the coma. Something else had happened. There was a period of time that was black and unreachable to him. He remembered coming home after getting punched by Raph... Did him and Raph have an argument? That's when his memory was fuzzy.
Leo could feel there was something else he was missing, he could also tell because of the way everyone was acting. A tension hung in the air, unspoken words hung just out of reach as Leo desperately reached for them. Is this how Mike felt? He looked at the box turtle, he was always left out of information. It was now Leo's turn to do so.
It wasn't fair, Leo could feel the tension, as Mikey suddenly stood up. "Does dad know yet?" He asked, Raph only shook his head. He was staring at him, it made Leo uncomfortable. "I'll go let him know" he walked out of the med bay.
