Avie's POV.
"I'm appointing you to take over while I'm not around, there will be board members around to help you out but I'm sure you can and you will execute things swiftly and smoothly." I spoked to Shelby after signing an authorization letter which will place her as the temporary boss. I decided to take a one week leave after I've spoken to Heather. She gradually asked me to spend some time with Lily at the earliest and she doesn't like her daughter to be around while she suffers from her illness. She wishes to at least prepare Lily and start making her get used to not having Heather around, I politely went against it but she pleaded and I just can't say no.
"How long will you be gone again?" Shelby asked.
"Just a week." She looked at me in a very confused state giving me questioning glares.
"What have you been seriously up to and what are you up to Avie? I mean, you haven't been around lately, not that it matters cause you're the boss after all and everything is going well but I just really wonder when you're gonna give us a piece of what's going on in your life." She ranted and I smiled and got up to finalize everything I needed to.
"I'm so sorry Shel but today isn't the right time. I'll tell you everything some time but right now I really gotta run cause Lily is waiting for me" I said and she raised her arms in the air and sighed and even gave me more questioning glares.
"Who the hell is Lily and since when did you ever keep a secret life?" she asked and quickly grabbed my bag and my coat rushing to the door.
"No time to explain now. I have to go. Bye love." I said pushing the door open leaving her yelling 'wait'. I passed by Annie who also gave me a questioning look but the elevator was already open and I needed to show up in the hospital in time. Its already 11:30 and I promised to be there before 12 pm to take Lily out for lunch while Heather undergoes some tests.
I haven't really discussed it to anyone, heck I don't know how to even start with it. I just want to take it one step at a time. Make Lily comfortable before blurting out to landon and the rest that I am going to be her second mom. Or sister? Wouldn't that sound better? NO? why not?. Brushing off thoughts in my head, I got in my car and yes I did hire a driver so I could sit with Lily in the back seat.
I arrived at the hospital at exactly 11:55 and sighed in relief when the nurses were still preparing to move her to another room. I peaked inside first and waited for Heather to call me in. She smiled and nodded.
Lily sat on the corner coloring. She lifted her head up to look at me and I gave her a smile before greeting her but she just stared at me and went back on her coloring book. Last night she insisted that she wanted to sleep with her mom and so I let her sleep beside her mommy while I slept on the couch. I got home this morning just to take a shower and a quick packing for another set of lily's clothes. Callie wasn't around as usual and just left a note thinking maybe I went home last night.
I approached Heather and touched her hand as a gesture to assure her I'm not running away like she thought I would.
"You came." She said.
"I'm not going anywhere" I said.
"I was afraid you'd change your mind" she said and I shook my head.
"I've decided and I want to without hesitation. I just don't know how to but I'll do my best." Her smile grew wider. She was more relieved that when she goes her daughter will be in a good place and I told myself I will do everything to make her a part of my family.
"No mother ever knew how until they tried." she said assuring me with a squeeze in the hand.
"Have you told your husband yet? He might be against the idea and I need to know if he is so I can think of alternative solutions. Your kingdom? They might shun and not accept her too." I gripped her hand not tight enough but just right to assure her again.
