When Sunoo saw Sunghoon stepping out of the car, he felt a surge of disbelief, his heart pounding with a mixture of shock and frustration. Of all people, here was Sunghoon, standing in front of his grandmother's house—a place where he had hoped would serve as a sanctuary, far from the reminders of their past.
His thoughts churned, anger building as he wondered how Sunghoon had known to come here. How could he intrude like this?
And then, as if it couldn't get worse, Sunghoon smiled calmly at the grandmothers and introduced himself in that infuriatingly casual tone of his. "Hello, I'm Sunghoon." he said, giving a polite bow. "I'm Sunoo's boyfriend."
The word hit Sunoo like a slap, his fists clenching as he bit back the urge to correct him in front of the grandmothers. This was supposed to be his escape, his time to find peace—and Sunghoon had managed to turn it upside down with a single sentence.
He felt his face heat with both embarrassment and anger, his jaw tight as he forced himself to stay quiet. The grandmothers were so charmed by him, he couldn't bring himself to cause a scene, but his mind was screaming at Sunghoon for his audacity.
"Oh, my! So you're Sunoo's boyfriend?" Mrs. Lee beamed, her eyes lighting up with genuine excitement. "Sunoo, you didn't mentioned a handsome young man will be coming with you."
Mrs. Choi chuckled warmly, her gaze roaming over Sunghoon. "And such a polite young man, too! You've picked well, Sunoo."
Sunghoon inclined his head, his polite demeanor never faltering. "Thank you," he replied, his voice smooth. "I feel lucky to be here with him. I've heard so much about how lovely this place is, and meeting such kind ladies is a treat, too."
The grandmothers' faces lit up even more, his words clearly flattering them. Mrs. Jung reached out to pat Sunghoon's arm, nodding approvingly. "Sunoo, dear, you didn't told us you had a partner." she exclaimed. "You both make a lovely pair."
Sunoo bit the inside of his cheek, forcing a tight smile as he felt his patience wear thin. But he didn't want to be rude to them—he'd known these grandmothers since he was a child. So, he swallowed down the urge to retort and managed to keep his expression somewhat composed, even if he could feel his pulse thundering in his ears.
After a bit more light chatter, the grandmothers finally began to bid their farewells. Mrs. Choi smiled at Sunoo with a wink. "Now, you two settle in and clean up a bit. We'll come by later to see how you're doing."
"Yes, yes!" Mrs. Park added. "You two enjoy some time together. And remember, Sunoo, don't wait too long to settle down." She chuckled, patting his arm affectionately. "You have a handsome man here. Take good care of him!"
Sunoo's stomach twisted as he forced himself to nod, his smile strained as he waved them off, heart hammering with frustration, watching them walk away down the path, chatting amongst themselves. The moment they were out of sight, his facade crumbled. He turned to Sunghoon, his eyes blazing, unable to hold back his anger any longer.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he snapped, his voice sharp and simmering fury. He barely kept his voice down, face flushed as he struggled to keep his composure. "And telling them you're my boyfriend? Seriously? Are you completely out of your mind?"
