I’m at the office when my phone rings. I know it’s not Maya because she has her own ringtone so I let it be because if it was any of my brothers they would use the landline and damn it rings at that moment.

“Hello?”

“Sir, there has been a problem…” I get up and take my jacket with my phone.

“Call me on my cell” I close my laptop and walk out of my office. “Vero, move all my appointments until I tell you when” My phone rings. “Is Kuhle, okay?” I can hear some noise in the background and it sounds like it’s my woman crying.

“She’s not sir….”

“Tell me where the fuck you are!” I hang up and he sends me the location. I get in the elevator and press the underground parking lot.

Maya didn’t tell me she was going to be out today, not that she needed to. I thought she was just going to see my aunt to talk about getting house help for her. My phone vibrates. It's the location of a restaurant. Who was she meeting there? Fxck I hope Emihle didn’t show up with Palesa and a fight broke out. My phone rings just as the doors open and I am running to my car. I answer it.

“I’m on my way to the restaurant, it looks like Luh and Sims got into a fight and Maya was hurt. I’ll…”

“Joe has already called me. I’m coming.” I take a deep breath count from 10 to 1 then start the car and head there.

In 40 minutes I’m finally there. I park my car and practically run to the restaurant. I can see that it is closed but there are people inside. I bang on the glass.

“Why are they fxcken closed!” Mbuso says standing behind me and we both bang on the glass doors.

One of the guards walks towards the doors, unlocks the door then we push them open and walk in. I can hear Maya asking Luh if she’s okay but I can’t see either of them. Joe and Luh’s bodyguard have their guns pointed at the other guards, their shirts are bloody and I can see that a fight broke out. The guards have wounds on their faces and I don’t see Sims anywhere.

“Where is my fiancé?” I asked Joe.

“The manager has locked himself in the safe, he won’t open and give us the keys. These two fools took Miss Maya and Mrs Gumede to separate rooms and locked them there and the keys were with the manager.”

Mbuso goes to where his wife is locked up. I go to one of the guards and grab him. “Show me where he is.” I dragged him down the floor like a potato sack until he told me to stop. I looked at the door and I couldn’t understand why they would have that kind of safe like they were a bank.

“Lay the fxck down and close your fxcken eyes.” I watch him and he does. I call Akani because Kabelo is with his family in Alaska and I don’t want to disturb him.

“Here are the keys, what do you want me to do with them?” he asks me as he materialises next to me.

“Take this one to the manager and scare the sh*t out of them.” I took the keys then practically ran to where Maya and Luh were and they were locked inside different offices. I threw the key to my brother then opened the other door and what I saw made me so angry.

Her braids were all over her face, her t-shirt was torn and she was hunched down in a corner scared out of her mind crying. I hear the voices of people screaming and scared out of their minds.
